I've read through a few of these posts and didn't quite find one that fit my situation. I have an un-jailbroken 3GS and I'm trying to find a way to export one contact's text message history to my computer. The friend who wrote them recently died and I want to make sure that I do it correctly and don't lose the messages. Any help would be appreciated.

If you've backed up your phone with itunes you could extract the sms.db file following a guide like THIS

Thanks for your reply. I followed the guide and downloaded the SQLite db browser. I opened sms.db and clicked on the Browse Data tab and though I can find his text messages in the address column, I can't successfully search for that address/number. Any clue how to use it to save just his messages?
