Arrow Execute command on iPhone without SSH

Anyone know how to execute a command on the iPhone without using SSH? (I'll explain why below...)

I have a (basically) hosed iPhone who's Wi-Fi is not working (at all). I have finally managed to jailbreak it, and use iphonebrowser to get to the file system. I have installed tools to virginize the baseband, but now I need to execute the commands.... SSH is the only way I have found documented to execute commands, but without Wi-Fi (or unlocking) I have no network to the device and therefore no IP address, so SSH not going to happen.

Anyone got a creative suggestion or did I just miss something obvious?
    Many thanks, I'm almost there!

    A little update...

I can get into the phone using iPHUC (in my case I'm using the Mac version), issue the command 'setafc com.apple.afc2' and then I can get to the area of the filesystem where I put the stuff for virginizing my baseband. All good so far (though this has taken me all day to figure out of course!).

So the final problem is that iPHUC doesn't allow you to directly execute anything on the iPhone (as mentioned above).

I do, however, believe the key is in (very carefully) replacing the com.apple.update.plist file in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons on the phone, then re-booting. I am currently trying to figure out exactly what I would need to put in there to run the bbupdater and launchctl commands needed to re-flash the baseband. Presumably I would then need to replace the com.apple.update.plist file with my old one afterwards (else my phone would reflash the baseband every time I boot it - ugh!).

Working on it, but hoping someone can contribute more info on how to do this last part without hosing myself!

If anyone knows of a baseband re-flash script using iPHUC/USB please do post it or a link. Thanks.

are you using firmware 1.0.2 or 1.1.1? you could copy over the terminal app and run the commands off that until you get your baseband and such working again.

Thanks masimunes -- you're probably right -- I have missed an important detail in my own particular case -- when my iphone boots the activate iPhone screen freezes so I cannot access the GUI of the phone either! Yuk!

I've been able to jailbreak the phone but not activate for some reason. Otherwise I think you're right Terminal.app should allow someone to execute the re-virginizer commands straight from the iPhone (assuming enough permissions etc.)

Sorry forgot to mention, 1.1.1 OTB (out of the box) downgraded to 1.0.2 (but not the baseband - I've supposedly never touched it because I never ran anything to do so - but apparently I still hosed it somehow!)

evil you've tried just doing a 1.1.1 restore and starting over again? if you had the 4.12 baseband and haven't downgraded and run anysim, you should be able to just do a 1.1.1 restore if i remember correctly. or you could just try reloading 1.0.2 which should get rid of the activation screen freezing so you can work on things easier.

Yes I've tried 1.1.1 restores and all sorts of other things - no luck. Main problem under both 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 is my Wi-Fi is broken ("No Wi-Fi" is displayed).

I have now (under 1.0.2) managed to jailbreak and activate. Now my boot up screen (after the Apple logo) is the time/date and a frozen slide to unlock control!!!

I have been able (due to the jailbreak) to place files onto the phone, it even restores music/video etc. from iTunes, but it's all no use because I can't get to the main GUI because of the frozen slide to unlock.

Hence my attempts to run something to re-virginize the baseband (even though I shouldn't need to, the fact that Wi-Fi is dead seems to indicate corruption of the baseband at least).

After u activate/jb the phone use iphuc to upload terminal to the phone.... upload the virginalization files as well and all other files needed. once everything is inside just open the terminar and try to virginilize from there.

    use:

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/s8t3ne and then
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/x3fia5

the second one needs sleep, rm, mv ,touch, and some other binaries. just in case why not get the whole binkit (google it) and iphuc into the phone? Just get everything from binkit inside one folder, and upload the contents of that folder to /bin (whatta mess) try the virginalization scripts above (in that order)

To virginalize, follow steps 2 and 3 of

    http://modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12973

After that is done, restore... pray. If does not work... cry.

    Hope that helps.

Fell free to email me at itmind@gmail.com if u need.
