du utility
Hello,
The BSD Subsystem is missing "du"
and I just discovered the very unfortunate 300M limitation on /
I need du (or equivalent) to see which apps are taking up most room so I can move them on to /var
Any Ideas ?
TIA
Stuart

Are you talking about the 300M limit regarding music etc?

Hello,
ISTM that all the music, pictures, data in general go onto the /var
Specifically /var/root/Media
Which is 7.3GB or there abouts.
The / partition is only 300M that is where the applications go.
Of course on an unhacked iphone it is not an issue, 300M is plenty of room.
But when you start adding Apps with installer you quickly run out of room.
I created a directory
/var/root/Applications
And if I move applications from /Applications to /var/root/Applications
Then create a symbolic link in /Applications it all seems to work fine.
(Except that uninstall does not delete the application, only the link But I cal live with that.)
So my issue is to find out where my 300Mb went and maybe move other folders.
For that I really need "du" which gives the total space used for each subtree from the current directory.
Unfortunately The BSD subsystem does not include du.
Stuart.
