Hi Kerry. Look like your app is going to turn into a classic and I would really like to try it but there is no way I can get to your web page to download it. Is it ibackup.up.to or www.ibackup.to or what. I tried every combination. Help!
Thanks for a great application. Have work great for me. I backup my iphone with your application and with itunes. Restore my firmware and restore the backup and was amaze to have all my applications back up.
Problems I encounter: Summerboard won't work, your program doesn't backup the summerboard.framework and the com.apple.SpringBoard.plist wish are necessary for the summerboard to work. The big problems is that since is in the list of the installer.app you will not be able to uninstall summerboard, to properly reinstall it back. You will get main script execution fail. I had to install summerboard manually and getting the correct summerboard 3.2 files to download to a PC from the internet was difficult. Second big problem, permissions of some applications. Example SwirlyMMS crashed until I reinstall it. Overall is a great program and you saved me a lot of hassle to reinstall back everything.
I would love to see that your application backup the contacts as well if that is possible. In reality will be perfect if you can backup the phone in a way that Itunes is just needed to put the multimedia files back in the phone (videos, photos, music) wishful thinking!!!
THANKS FOR A GREAT APPLICATION!!!
hi i`ve been trying to get this to work but it won`t. i`m on 1.1.4 pwned, bsd, openssh, and everthing installed. mac leopard 10.5.2. the first time i ran it i did the terminal and it would keep switching so i ran the iphone-rsa-setup.sh. then it would freeze and i`d have to force quit. now when i launch it it says. AppleScript Error cat: /Users/gixxer750/Library/iBackup/lastip: No such file or directory (1). then i click o.k. and it opens. then i type in my i.p. then i select individual and my save path. when i click backup i get the apple script error again and a silver box spinning and i can`t quit the app. i have to force quit. can you please help me fix this issue? this is a great app. thanx
weeew... lots of messages :-)
ok, first things first:
I moved the iBackup site from google sites to google groups, so I can have a proper discussion forum there, which I think is better than just one eternal thread at hackint0sh ;-)
Second, with this move I re-named the whole thing from iBackup to "iBaReS" which is a little bit more idividual (there are lots of iBackup's out there.. just none for iPod/IPT).
With the next version the new name will also go into the program.
If you have a mail address listed here in the forum, you will get an invitation to the forum.
otherwise, it's here: http://www.google.com/group/ibares
(will also link iBackup.up.to and iBaReS.up.to asap to the new site)
So, this should also clear the issue of Pupi reagarding the access...
I ran into the same problem yesterday when I tested 2.0 and then back to 1.1.4. It's already fixed with the next version (launching today or tomorrow) which will then backup ALL third party Frameworks and also daemons that are started at boot.
Another issue a user asked me was whether iBaReS will handle linked Applications, meaning if the whole Application directory is moved to the bigger partition for space reasons (mostly done by BigBoss Tool proably). I'll take care of that, too. As tools and sw gets growing it will be quite usual I think that people need more space than is availabel in the root partition.
Alph: I couldn't figure out your problem so far... and the whole error queue is a little bit strange... which version of iBackup did you use?
Ok.... further discussions please on the new site. :-)

Oh and e-oni,
very sorry that it doesn't run on your system. I'm also still new to the whole x-code environment but it should be no problem to figure out....
Also... look out for the next version and please give me feedback whether it works then!
I had to reinstall BSD subsystem and openSSH to make the restore work. Once done restoring ... the iPhone is terribly slow I am restoring to 1.1.4 stock right now.
ipswtool will help for me since I reflash firmwares a lot to test....
Thanks again... will wait for an update
Sure, I´ll test the new version(s) as fast as possible and will give you feedback.

very useful tool, will be definetly using this when i get my iphone
sorry that you had problems.
But I can't imagne what could "slow down" your phone?! The backup/restore does not change any software or start anything on the phone. So without further knowledge it's quite hard to analyze what could have gone wrong there. But I'm really sure it's not due to the restore. Especially, if you've just done a backup and then restore of the same data, it won't even transfer anything because there are no changes!
Maybe you can clarify the description of what was terribly slow.
Juanito: the standard backup goes into the User Library of your MAC ($HOME/Library/iBackup/data). There are no zip archives created and a standard restore will always go from that data. The new version 2.1 says that now on the very main window to clarify that FAQ ;-)
