    Sure. But it only appears once at boot. You don't reboot the iphone all the time. But it avoids having it try to connect to the network. Currently, how long does your battery last? On my iphone, with the ATT sim in, it was about 1 - 1.5 day. Without sim in, it was 4 days. Now with a valid sim and comm, it's about 2 - 2.5 days.

    Is there a way to get rid of it? Perhaps an illegitimate activation?

    If so, what files should I back up to keep youtube running properly?

    Anything else?

    I posted this elsewhere, but it's the same problem.

    thanks.

    I have no idea. I just did as recommended and simply removed the SIM card. Now I get of course "no sim installed" message after each reboot. When the s/w unlock is released, you can pop in your own SIM and probably this message will go away .

    my main concern is when I set up the TurboSIM in a couple of days. Does this mean my AT&T SIM card is not properly recognized? Will I have to do something else to get the TurboSIM working?

    I think when you setup properly your turbosim this message should go away. May be some other guys using the turbosim can chip in.

    That's right. As soon as the iphone can connect to the network, the iphone will be fully activated. The message won't come again. I didn't tried a turbosim. But it was like this with the silvercard and geohot hack.

    To clarify, this message will go away even if I'm not actually connecting to AT&T?

    This problem isn't going to hinder the TurboSIM method?

    I had the "waiting for at&t activation" every time I turned on the iPhone until I went to the US then it vanished. Great - but Ive just done a full restore and the "waiting for at&t activation" is back again. I am in the UK, iPhone is on Go Phone, and I'm waiting for a Software Unlock. Until that is released, no doubt a trip back over the pond might fix it, but struggling with the business case justification for the airfare.

    Go Phone accounts does not support roaming. So you att sim can't connect when you're in UK. But as soon as you're in US, activation is fine.

    @smersh
    Yes. As soon as iphone as a valid gsm connection, activation is done. It can be with any operator. As said, it happened with both my silvercard and after geohot hack.
