but maybe it just don't kernel panic with core 2 CPUs, others (P4 and AMD) might not work with it...
I'll know it soon, I should get a P4 640 rig tomorrow (or the day after). Since it will have the same mobo I'm using on my C2D rig, I'll just clone my system on it, and see if it kernel panics with this kext or not...
It may also be related to your "older" chipset (ICH5, mine is ICH7)
I wish I can use the lastest kernel without remove AppleCPUPowermanagement!
I don't know why it happen to me (Kernel panic if not remove AppleCPUPowermanagement) that I haven't never met! It caused my CPU's temperature is too high!
what temperature do you get with latest kernel/without AppleIntelCPU kext ?
How do you read temperature ? (it might not be accurate if it's software reading)
Also, did you try ACPIthrottle kext from prasys wih latest kernel, it could help lower temperature, if you can't use AppleIntelCPU kext.
ACPIthrottle kext doesn't work in my system!
I guest my temperature is Hot because I set sound in my BIOS which will alarm when temperature higher than 60o
I set my BIOS to alarm when I reach 60°C on P4 640, and so far, I did not reach it running DNETC. I'm using stock intel cooler (which is absolute crap) for the moment, so it's not even running hot with AppleIntelCPU...kext
Maybe it's more a matter of mobo components, so I think this gygabite GA 945GM-S2 mobo, despite being totally unable to overclock, is a nice mobo for OS X...
Im using the appleintelCPU....kext here too, on a toshiba satellite p4 (sse2) and with the last kernel build 23 april. Actually I think it gets cooler than while running windows.
edit: It also works in my desktop (P4 sse2 + 865g-ich5 chipset)
