When will netkas fix the appleintelpowermanagement.kext
I am using PentiumD 945 on Dell 5150
if I remove the appleintelpowermanagement.kext
the system fan running crazy
and I have a cpu actually support HPET !!!
Is it possible netkas get new kernel that support the kext in the end?
and my pentiumD was recognize as core solo
but I do see two cpu in the activity monitor
though I guess that means it actually works, but recognition was fine before with smethx kernel
I try to comment on netkas' website, but seems he doesn't read it...

Sorry, can you be more specific?
what you are trying to say

I know what he's trying to say. The new kernel is supposed to work with that kext on hpet systems. But if I try loading it I get a panic although my system, a Gigabyte 8i945GMF (ICH7) supports HPET. It used to work fine with the binary-patched 8.9.1 kernel and AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext.
Btw, what's the AppleHPET.kext? It's not loaded on my system but I saw it running on a real mac.
Cheers

AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement doesn't seem to work with Pentium-Ds.With my 925 in my ASRock 945G-DVi, no 10.4.9 kernel will boot with the kext in place. If I swap it for my Core 2 Duo, it boots fine.

YEAH, I have the same problem! I have system which supported HPET Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 (875P - ICH5R) + Intel 3.0G, 800Hz, SSE3, HPET & non NX, In the past, I used kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.9.1: Thu Mar 26 20:55:00 PST 2007; netkas: 792.18.15~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386 + dsmos.kext with no big problem (I have to add "-f" to boot.plist), I can keep AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement, but all kernel versions newer gave me kernel panic if I don't remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement! I don't know why it's happened! So I still be sticked with the old kernel and hope netkas will find the solutions for our problem soon!
(Old kernel version gave me the much higher score when bench with geekbench and xbench than all the newer ones!)

Not all Ds, it loads ok with my 820, maybe it's a Presler core issue. Remember that "the first batch of Presler processors (revision B1) have the EIST feature turned off by microcode update because of stability issues." However, I noticed that the B1 I played with ages ago reported it as present - it just didn't work. That's what might be messing with the kext.

Mine is a D0. EIST and C1E both work perfectly under other OSes, as does the HPET on my board (obviously, since it works with the C2D!) Maybe there's a bug in the Presler microcode specifically that creates this problem. A nice way to test whether it's a hardware or microcode fault might be to see if people with Cedar Mill P4 6xx chips have the same problem since I'm sure they'll use a different microcode and revision but have the same Cedar Mill core (albeit only one versus two to make the 'Presler'.)
