Should I try another kernel?
Are there different kernels to try and can they make any difference in getting my gfx work with acceleration? I've seen a few variants of 10.4.8 but are there newer ones too? This far I've only tried with uphuck 10.4.9 and 10.4.10.
I've had problems getting my 6600gt (id0140) working and I think I tried all methods (different "titans", editing kexts, tried all outputs and so on) but my os always hangs while loading nvdaresman (by any reason my devID is included in the nvdanv40 file but NOT in nvdaresman and if I add it, even without installing titan, it hangs on boot).
MSI-P965 mobo (hpet supported and that bl--dy jmicron)
Palit 6600gt 256 MB pcie dual id 0140
For the moment I've installed vista so i can use my gfx card but thats not what i really want... not at all.
when you say "...pcie dual..." do you mean you have 2 cards (sli or seperated) ?
if so, you will certainly have trouble getting them to work at the same time. So far, I've seen only 1 guy who could get to identical NVIDIA cards to work at the same time...
otherwise, I'd suggest having a look at macvidia.com and try either nvidiaEFI or NVinject. Also make sure you have original Apple NVIDIA extensions (NVDA* files, GeForce* files and other display related extensions/bundle files...)
Hi and thanks for your answer
I agree I was a little unclear... I just have a single card with 2 outputs.
I tried both nvidiaefi and different natit-versions including nvinject without success. Either I get a black screen or a message saying something like "startdisplay (1) - failed". I've tried with or without edited nvda* and geforce* and even replaced the files with older from different installation cds or newer from the latest from apple updates pkgs.
If I remove nvinject (or titan or nvidiaefi and so on) AND removes my DevID from nvdaresman my os boots again but, of course, with no gfx acceleration.
Maybe you can help me out with an answer to one of these questions?
1. With only the standard files installed (no titan or such) most computers start including mine. But as soon as I add my DevID in nvdaresman I get a black screen. Is this "normal"? Is nvinject (or such) really needed to load nvdaresman correctly?
2. Are there different kernel versions out there (newer ones) and do you think they can make any difference in my case?
