Mac OSX on PS3
Hi guys im new to this / forum, and i have tried a search on here for ps3, if this is in the wrong place apologies
i was wondering if anyone had any ideas or any experience with attempting to get osx 10.4 onto the ps3
i tried myself but do not know a great deal about kboot or yaboot bootloaders
here is what i do know: (forgive me if ive missunderstood what i've learn't)
sonys boot loader will read the os x install dvd but gives an error "no partition(1)"
it does read the darwinppc-801.cdr but also errors saying no partition(1) and error code 0x8000002 scsi device i/o error the installer tries about 4 times then takes me back to the kboot prompt
if booting from ubuntu or fedora core install dvd, this works and gives me a gui to install from either cd or access the terminal etc, in a round about way i have got partitions and formatted them but still no joy from the gentoo partition program,
i have used these sources for information
im not sure whether the boot loader needs/can be updated, i thought if bootx can load then maybe the mac os x cd can be read and start the installer or if i can get osx installed to the hdd then it might boot however i dont have a sata adapter, my only means is to open up my g4 powerbook and see what happens but...well im a little reluctant as i dont have the environment and wanted to ask you guys first
please forgive my ignorance, thanks in advance
there are too many differences between PPC mac and CELL-based PS3 hardware to run unmodified MacOS.
You'll need at least HAL of mac os rewritten for PS3 hardware
oh ok, thanks for the reply i guess i cn stop waisting my weekend now, ta
i dont understand a single word in that thread
