Default JaS 10.4.8 does not boot from HD on Phoenix BIOS

    Hi,

I try to install 10.4.8 on a FSC Laptop. It's booting and installing from DVD (JaS 10.4.8SSE2/3 Intel/AMD), but it does not boot from HD afterwards (Operating system not found). It is running on a Phoenix BIOS ("Phoenix cME FirstBIOS Notebook Pro 1985-2004"), CPU is Intel Pentium M 740, 1GB RAM.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Frank

    that's not a BiOS issue.
your hard drive with OS X boot partition has certainly not been made active and blessed correctly and darwin bootloader has not been installed in your disk MBR...

try booting with your OS X install disk, and install darwin bootloader, and bless your drive from the terminal.

I thought that the installation routine would take care of that. How can make sure to activate the drive and install the bootloader? Probably some terminal commands?

    Thanks,
    Frank

I figured out, how to boot it, preparing the disk before installation using fdisk. I did not have to do that on a desktop computer I installed OS X...

Now I have "only" to problems: neither network interface card of the Livebook 720 is recognized (built-in ethernet and WLAN). On the other hand, the internal Firewire adapter is shown as a network adapter.
I can not send the machine to sleep (no reaction). Also, when I try to shutdown, it seems to hang while showing a blue screen with the spinning wheel.

    try updating to 10.4.9
there might be specific patches for your network/firewire issues, you have to check depending on your specific hardware !
