Is there a newer version of hfsplus.efi that will support the reading of HFSplus Journaled HFSJ volumes?
Either on DVD or Harddrive?
Currently it only seems to recognise and catalogue older HFS+ DVD's or partitions.
Is there more uptodate version from a newer firmware?
How do I decode a firmware fd file so its human readable and extract the required module?
Thanks

AFAIK, HFS+ is HFS journaled, there are only HFS and HFS+, unless you mean HFS+ "case sensitive" ?

How come when you say insert a 10.4.8 server DVD or 10.5 Leopard or leopard server DVD. You can not catolog the DVD in EFI when the module is loaded?
But you can catolog a standard 10.4.8 HFS restore disk or earlier?
It behaving as if the HFS, HFSplus, HFSJournaled, HFSextended format has been changed slightly ?
Partition types HFS, HFSPlus, HFSPlusJournaled, HFSPlusJournaledExtended (case sensitive)
A HFS plus volume can be optionally journaled! http://developer.apple.com/technotes...0.html#Journal
Perhaps a different partion blocksize size or type id something?
The DVD's mentioned above are "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" (HFSJ Case sensitve) compared to the one which can be catologued which seem to be bog standard HFS+ non journaled, non extended.
Or the module (HFSPlus.efi) does not support a certain characteristic of the partition because its older.
How do I decode a firmware fd file so its human readable and extract the required module?

well, "journaled" is just an option, it does not change the partition format (it can be enabled on the fly, without formatting) so it should not makes any difference regarding reading. So it's quite weird that previous module does not allow to read it...

Well it does not work? HFSPlus.efi does not catlog "HFS+ journaled Extended" disks? i.e Leopard DVDs or 10.4.8 server dvd's
But it will catalog HFS plus disks fine!
Why? Then! Try it and tell me why it wont work?
HFSX
HFSX is an extension to HFS Plus to allow additional features that are incompatible with HFS Plus. The only such feature currently defined is case-sensitive filenames.
HFSX volumes have a signature of 'HX' (0x4858) in the signature field of the volume header. The version field identifies the version of HFSX used on the volume; the only value currently defined is 5. If features are added that would be incompatible with older versions (that is, older versions cannot safely access or modify the volume because of the new features), then a different version number will be used.
The other question nobody can seem to answer.
