The thing is, I just cannot get past Error 3 when trying to restore with the modified IPSW.
This is just driving me crazy, my phone meets all the requirements, yet it fails. What iTunes version are you using?

    Unhappy Same problem....

    Hi,

My phone is also stuck on "restore mode" after using Spirit....

I have understood everything in the "Last-ditch-method" but am not able to use the rslite...

How to I get a terminal for it? Don't know where to type those commands...rslite is not a executable file...windows cant recognize it...how to start it?

    I am using Windows vista...

    Thanks,

    Raaj

Both rslite and iRecovery are command line tools. That means you need to start with a command prompt (preferably run as administrator).

Try dragging and dropping the EXE onto the command prompt window. Then proceed from there with the last-ditch instructions.

On windows 7 as admin - the drag-drop method does not work (when admin) due to extra security. If that is the case with Vista as well you need to type the full path to the EXE by hand.

I restored then updated to 3.1.3, after using spirit for about a week I ran "iWipe" from Cydia before I loaded up my iPod player. The "iWipe zero out free space" process never finished & now I'm stuck in the recovery loop, I have shsh's blobs on file with Cydia for 3.1.2 & 3.1.3. It said so at the top of Cydia page in my iPhone when it was working. Should I be downgrading to 3.1.2 or since I do not need an unlock, should I be using iReb or iRecovery to get out of this loop? My sim work's & my iPhone is/was activated & working before this. What can I do, I've researched for day's & I am not sure what I need to do. Atempting to fix I did upgrade to iTunes 9.2 but I have since deleted & downgraded my iTunes to 9.1.1, is that part of my problem? How can I tell if I can get out of this or if my iPhone is bricked? Or what what I need to be attempting A) downgrading firmware? B) Try again to uninstall & re-install iTunes to earlier version? What version? Did I delete the right files before re-installing iTunes 9.1.1? C) Lastly, my lock/power button popped out a few weeks before all this but it still works when I use something to push it down. Would that be a problem? I dont think it is but just thought I would ask.

    Reinstall iTunes 9.1.2
Yes use iRecovery, rslite or if you must iREB (which is just iRecovery with a GUI) to exit recovery mode.
    Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.2
    Upgradeto iTunes 9.2
Restore to iOS 4 with Pwnagetool 4.0.1

Thanks, I've searched for iTunes "9.1.2." I only find 9.2, 9.1.1, 9.1.0, 9.0.3, 9.0.2, 9.0.1 & 9.0.0. I cannot find "9.1.2" where do I get it? OR is it the iTunes I already saved 9.1.1.12? Also, when I tried opening iRecovery, I think I changed the program that open's it & all others similar. What default program do I set in "properties" for ZIP & RAR files, to open & install? Zip get's installed & RAR is a command line, right? OMG, I'm so confused please don't chew my ass out. I always search & try my best not to re-ask questions, when the answers have already been posted. I've seen many post's/threads of people stuck in the recovery mode loop but for reasons unlike mine, by using "iWipe" after properly restoring, upgrading & JB'ing with Spirit. Also, I have 2 more questions I cannot find answer's to. 1) My iPhone has displayed the "red super dead" battery charge screen a few times over the past 4 days I have been in this loop. Is it charging with the "connect to iTunes" recovery mode screen displayed or should I be charging it in "DFU" mode blank screen, in PC's USB or wall charger? 2) I have un-installed & re-installed iTunes & all Apple components a few times. The link show's 6 Apple programs & the proper order to uninstall but what about Safari & MobileMe control panel. Will they come with new iTunes or should I be reinstalling them separate? As of now I am removing the 6 listed but Safari & MobileMe control panel were already gone, I am doing this now then I will be deleting all the files in C:/Program files. I will check back here for answers before re-installing iTunes, thanks very much. All suggestions & help is greatly appreciated.
