    I am using Windows XP and iTunes 9.2 (now uninstalled) --> preparing to install 9.0 to run Spirit.

    Just to confirm....were you saying that along the jailbreaking process, Spirit will ask me whether I am using new or old bootrom?

    If not, then why bothered since Spirit will work for both new and old bootrom right?

    My phone is bought brand new almost 1 month ago.

    Here the screen I got once the phone in DFU mode.

    See the text "Device Instance ID" that's a menu, you need to choose the correct option which is "Device Instance Path" Then you will get the iBoot info.

    I have tried looking for " Device Instance Path".....it wasn't exist on the drop down menu........i checked it one by one....none containing iBoot....

    Note: when enters DFU mode itune asked if I want to update....I said "no".

    Do I really need to know this new or old bootrom? Because I am using Spirit....My phone is unlocked....and the serial code is 870086xxxxx
    Will spirit ask me whether I am using old or new bootrom along the process of jailbreaking? No right?

    You don't need to know - Spirit does not ask you.

    However if you later decide to try Spirit2Pwn you may get into trouble (see http://www.hackint0sh.org/f203/154323.htm for an example)

    99% sure you are new bootrom. So stay away from Spirit2Pwn and any other jailbreaks aside from Spirit.

    3 more questions before I proceed with spirit:
    1. Since this spirit is not LLB, but software base h4ck, if I mess it along the process, is there any much lighter restore without using SHSH 3.1.3 that I can use? Maybe something similar to CT Manager?
    2. How to clean uninstall this spirit after installing it? I do not have 3.1.3 SHSH (Current firmware 3.1.3). Clean without leaving any trace? This is for future use.

    I have not tested this but reportedly - if you make (and save) a backup via iTunes before you use spirit - you can later restore this backup to remove spirit.

    This will revert your SMS history, call history, app setting anything that you are not explicitly syncing via iTunes (eg music, applications, contacts) to the point where you took the original backup.

    As mentioned, you need to do more than just right click in iTunes and make backup, you also need to go and rename the folder that represents that backup. This is because iTunes will overwrite the backup the next time it automatically takes a backup.

    few left question

    do I need to turn on or turn off the wifi before jailbreaking the phone?
    The reason why i ask because i saw some people complaining that their wifi connection is not working after using spirit.....

    Or leaving the wifi on or off will not make any difference after jailbreaking the phone?

    Any tips I should do before using spirit?

    What I got so far is:
    * Use iTune before 9.2 (I am using 9.0)
    * Sync the phone
    * Back up the phone
    * Save SHSH in cydia using Tiny Umbrella.
    * Leave the battery full (better be safe rather than sorry)
    * wifi on or off?
    * Uninstall all the existing software?
    * Do i need to keep the itune open (running) while running the spirit or close (not running)?
    * Should I change the compatibility mode to windows 98/me if I am running on XP?

    I have not seen any verifiable reports of wifi problems where spirit was the cause. More likely that these people were using blacksn0w.

    I believe spirit works best with iTunes 9.1.x

    You don't need iTunes running while you run spirit.

    Connecting the phone to iTunes should both sync and backup the phone. However iTunes overwrites this backup with a new backup everytime you backup. So you should navigate to the backup directory and zip up the clean backup. I always do this before any major upgrade.

    I would make sure any important data (photos you have taken, notes, contacts etc are either synced or downloaded from the phone before you start - just in case)
