Massive battery drain from 3.1.3.& spirit JB
Hi all
Before I start this thread, I have been jailbreaking phones since the very very start and fully aware of what I'm doing.
But since upgrading to 3.1.3 and running spirit on my 3GS I've had massive battery drain.
Yesterday I fully charged my iphone 4 times.
It was on 3.1.2 and jailbreaked with pwange ( iphone dev team ) without any problems. I then upgraded to 3.1.3. and JB with spirit, now I'm getting silly battery life.
No new apps have been installed since the upgrade and JB. Is this a spirit or 3.1.3 issue?
Thanks in advance

none, it might be your iphone. as it is working fine here on 3.1.3 + Spirit.
Another thing, sometimes battery drainage is caused by restoring from a backup, so you should try to set up the phone as new.

Neither. You might have more success if you restored to 3.1.3 activated, set up the phone as new then jailbreak with spirit.
Your poor battery life is probably due to some remaining files left over from the 3.1.2 OS that was kept intact because you upgraded rather than did a clean restore.

Hi,
I just Used Spirit last night on my new Iphone 3GS 16GIG
-never unlocked
-Bought from Rogers Wireless (Canada)
-I did an oops by updatign the Firmware to 3.1.3 (7E18) BB 5.12.01
Ive Backed up the SHSH after the update.
I had a full charge last night and unpluged around 5:00 AM - it is now 11:14 AM and its over half way on the battery.
I have not used the Iphone for anything today.
Only processes that are running are:
-Mail
-Phone
WiFi is OFF
This issue did not start till I installed Spirit last night.
Can you please Help?

Running 3.1.3 on a 16 gig touch 3rd gen. System came with 3.1.3 and 05.12.01 installed from the factory. No new apps(other than cydia) installed.
Battery life drops from 100% to around 40% in around 6 hours with wifi off.
I love the freedom to JB, but at this point the device doesn't make it through a work day.

I heard of this a few times, not sure what may be causing it. The majority of users who JB do not seem to experience battery problems unless they are running apps that drain it. If you have a clean phone then the JB should not affect battery life at all. Can you check if winterboard was not automagically installed?
For most problems doing a DFU restore and then Spirit JB seems to be the last resort when everything else has failed.
Kind Regards

I am also experiencing the same. Prev, I was running 3.1.2 with blackra1n doin the job for my 3gs.
yesterday, i updated to 3.1.3, ran spirit. I can see the battery is draining very fast. But I did a restore from my earlier backup. Any solutions. Should I updated to 3.1.3 and then spirit and setup as a new phone? If doin so, will I not lose my sms and contacts???

Yes to SMS - but it is possible to selectively backup and restore the SMS and any other files you want to keep.
Contacts - as long as you sync them to your computer first (or to one of the online sync options) then you won't lose these.
