I got my iPhone in summer of last year, didn't really understand the flexibility I could get from Jailbreaking it until recently so had to wait out for Spirit. I'm loving the openness it provides.

However, I am unsure of exactly how AppSync should behave. I know its working because my Installous works fine. But I go to file>transfer purchases in itunes and it doesn't copy my downloaded Cydia apps in the app library. Is it supposed to?

I want to 'backup' my Cydia downloaded apps into itunes but when I transfer purchases it doesnt recognise them. The only ones that are there are the manually downloaded ipa's that I then double clicked to get iTunes to install them.

In short, am I able to copy my cydia apps (SBSettings/Winterboard etc.) into itunes?

There is a clever app on Cydia (and else where I suppose) called AptBackup (not to be confused with AppBackup, which is also useful and clever) --

AptBackup is the one to backup your non-itunes type apps --

I believe it backs them us as contact info or something -- so when you sync next and backup your iPhone, those get backed up as well!

No it is not possible to copy Cydia apps into iTunes - the Cydia application packaging format is completely different to the IPA format. There is no way to convert from dpkg (Cydia) to IPA that would work for every package.

More importantly discussion of AppSync/Installulous and "manually downloaded IPAs" is not welcome here. This is warez/software piracy which is a topic that is not allowed in this forum. Please do not bring these topics up on this forum again.
