yes it is safe to use jailbreakme with your iPhone. The only problem/risk is that if something goes wrong.. you can NEVER restore to 4.0 again, because you are too late in backing up SHSH for 4.0 (or 4.0.1 or 4.0.2)

So you have one-shot at a jailbreak (right now - there will be a jailbreak for 4.1 eventually). Be cautious as to what you install (and later try to uninstall) from Cydia. Most things are safe to install, just use caution and common sense.
Carrier settings are 99% of the time okay, they generally help (update MMS settings or voicemail server address etc).
In combination with jailbreak, any negative settings bundled in a carrier settings update can be overidden (for example if a carier decided to introduce tethering as an item that must be purchased separately, they could use carrier settings to enforce this)
Please read the stickies & search forum before posting! How to report an iTunes restore/update fail in a useful manner
iPad 3G 64GB (4.3.3, Redsn0w) oldest SHSH 3.2.2

Olethros, thankyou very much for the very detailed reply answerd my questions perfectly..
ive asked the same questions on several other forums with useless replys or none atall, and i found this forum and noticed how many active members there are here and thought this would be the best place to get positive answers, and i was right
thanx again m8.. im sure ill be back again with more newbie questions lol, im an ex nokia / symbian fan and finally came to my senses when the iphone4 came out, couldnt resist any more and had to dump my nokia 5800 complete load of garbage device and get iphone4... nokia simply cant make touch screen phones, this is a fact.. the 5800 was hyped up to be the iphone killer LMAO, the first iphone it was at the time i think, and it just completly failed in every possible way it could.. i stuck with nokia for years and now i really dont know why i did,,
everything is sooo long winded with nokia devices running symbian os, u need to go through 50,000 menus just to change a simple setting like a ringtone
i am so happy with my iphone4 now, the screen is just something else specially after staring at pathetic QVGA screens that i think nokia must of got a deal on 500 billion of them a year or 2 ago as it was all the they would use in akl there devices for years.. the iphone screen is just amazing, its actually better quality than my TV lol.. and the UI is just incredibly simple, yet very powerful and fast and smooth, no lock ups of freezes (like Nokia do at least 3 times a day, and takes a good 3 - 4 mins to boot up again) which is how it should be for a smart phone, hence the word smart.. Symbian i now class as dumb phones, which is so unfortunate if it wasn't for Nokia the company Symbian could of done really well, but Nokia completely destroyed it, in fact to the point of them recently announcing they are scrapping Symbian now for a new Linux based OS called meego, but ive no interest in Nokia any more what so ever.. bottom line, i think Nokia suck now..
please accept my deepest apology for ranting on about Nokia and delete if in appropriate.
thank you once again.
