What else have you installed that uses mobile substrate? With the exception of Skype - very little is actually incompatible with mobile substrate - it is more common to experience problems with plugins that use mobilesubstrate - for example winterboard.

7h, make sure you reboot the phone after installing the latest mobilesubstrate
