Don't install today's iTunes 9.2 if you plan on using Spirit for fresh JB (but it's fine for PwnageTool & redsn0w users) - DevTeam
    it's confirmed !

Those with 3GS, or 3rd gen iPod touch who cannot restore to OS 3.1.2 (or lower) must wait for a new jailbreak based on an as yet unreleased exploit.

Exclamation Failed at jailbreak using spirit on itunes 9.2

First of, I wanna say that I'm a idiot, and I should've done more research regarding "spirit" before jailbreaking my ipod touch 3G (purchased it last week). So here is what I did...
I went on youtude today and looking for instructions on how to jailbreak. Some dude on youtube suggested using Spirit to JB Ipods/Iphones. It looks decently simple to follow, so I decided to give it a try. (He didn't say nothing about DO NOT ATTEMPT TO JAILBREAK WITH ITUNES 9.2!)

So I DL Spirit and run the program, it shows up a message box says JB completed. After been waiting for 10 minutes for ipod to reboot, I unplugged the ipod touch and did a soft reset because it wasn't responding. After unplugging the ipod, I did a hard rest and connect to itunes attempt to restore. IT GETS STUCK IN THE RESTORING PROCESS. I did a few trys(reset, unplug, restore), it won't work. Tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall it still won't work

    Please help....

I have merged your thread into an existing thread. Try and search for existing threads related to your problem rather than create duplicate threads.

Okay, as you have an iPod touch, the following *might* work
    1. Remove all traces of iTunes (restart afterwards) Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    2. Reinstall iTunes 9.2 (restart again)
    3. Put your iPod touch into DFU mode
    4. Restore iOS 4.0 (it is now impossible to restore OS 3.1.3 on your device)
    5. Set the iPhone up as new. Do not restore from iTunes backup.

    Hi guys,

I understood from this forum that currently Spirit does not work for new iPad jailbreak on iTunes 9.2, but forums from MacRumors has that Spirit can actually work now on iTunes 9.2.

Any idea if Spirit has been fixed for iTunes 9.2? Seems like the following threads mentioned about some sort of fix for iTunes 9.2. Can any seniors shed some light? Sorry if some of the links are tied to the iPad.

    MacRumors' thread:

    RedmondPie's thread:
