3gs Wifi Greyed Out After Restore
Hi Folks,
I could do with some advice. Here's my story:
I have an iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 firmware 05.12.01 baseband that was jailbroken with Spirit. I had a disaster the other day and dropped the phone in the bath.
After the phone had dried out the phone put itself into recovery mode and told me to connect to itunes. I have itunes 9.2.
The phone did a restore and upgraded to iOS4.0.1 and everything now workd except my wifi. When I look in general settings, Wifi is greyed out and it says "No Wifi".
I now have a 3gs which has 4.0.1 firmware and 05.13.04 baseband.
I have tried the following:
1. Downgrading to 3.1.3 - still no wifi
2. Resetting Network Settings (firmware 3 & 4) - still no wifi
3. Restoring the phone from a backup in Feb - Still no wifi
I know I have lost my jailbreak and believe having read around that the most likely cause of the issue here is not a hardware failure (I should add that I have seen had wifi working but it was for a matter of hours before it died again), but most likely is caused by a corruption of the baseband.
Since I don't have any way of connecting to the phone besides via the cable because the phone is not Jailbroken, I don't know what to do.
Can anyone suggest anything or can anyone recommend somewhere for me to check?

Wifi
Hi,
I've got exactly the same problem on my 3gs 4.01 and so far i found 2 solutions:
1. Wifi Fixer [iPhone Dev Team]
2. How to Fix Wifi Connection Issues After Unlocking Your iPhone With BlackSn0w
but (there is always a but is it not?) :
1st one looks very difficult and i did not have time to try that
2nd in cydia when i'm trying to add the repository id stucks on downloading repository.. This could be because i'm using GPRS from my network provider to connect to the internet as my wi-fi doesn't work.
For jailbreak just visit http://jailbreakme.com on your device - i've jailbreaked 2 iphones like a charm.
Let me know if you suceeded as it is a real pain...

The second link has okay advice - but your problem is more likely hardware.
