Well, here we go:

SLEEP -> chosse other patched kernel on install DVD,
WIRELESS (BCM4315) -> did you try find kext by this model?
ETHERNET (RTL8111/8168B) -> Works without modding, if not, in most releases has kext for it.
MIC (int/ext) -> Need fully functional ALC268
EJECT BUTTON -> Press F12 and release it when DVD Drive auto-openend
CARD READER -> Look for chunan kext, insanelymac had development of this and Google is your friend.
TAP-TO-CLICK -> Not work for all Lappie Hacks.

I have fixed most of those things by now:

SLEEP: Vostro Sleep Hack

About half way down the page, in a small post, there's a download link on teh page http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.p...c=97966&st=460
None of the other hacked kernels fixed the sleep. It always went to sleep, then woke up instantly, but this crack fixed it using the vanilla kernel (some USB-wake up call was messing it up).
It now sleeps properly, but has a few problems. After waking up:

1. shutdown doesnt work (would be nice to fix)
2. sound doesnt work (any fixes?)
3. Ethernet doesnt work (also would like to fix)

WIRELESS: Dell Post-Installer

I did search for kexts for this particular model, but such searches revealed much despair. the Bcm43xx_enabler.kext doesnt work (according to what I read) but a modded one in the Dell Post-Installer does. I recommend this to everyone with a Dell, just use it carefully. You dont need to install everything! It can be downloaded from: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=97966
One problem is that when restarting in windows and going into MacOS disables the wireless card: MacOS can't find it at all! But that's solved by shutting down cold, or restarting in MacOS.

ETHERNET: OSX86Tools

This didnt manage to work like it said it would, but it gave me a link to the kext, which I downloaded and implemented. I recommend this thing in addition to Onyx as good tweaking tools.

There are some drawbacks:

1. Ethernet works only when powered on with the cable plugged in (a nuisance, but livable)
2. Ethernet doesnt work after sleep (would be nice to fix)

MIC: Still Searching

I'm willing to help test and develop a working ALC268 kext... I'm just clueless as to how. If I could get in touch with someone who could guide me, I'm sure a solution could be found...

CARD READER: Confused Here

I did see that Chunan post, and read through the entire thread (whew!). Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I understood:

1. Chunan's fix is for the ExpressCard Slot (the one like the PCI card slot)
2. It doesnt work for the SD/MMC Card Reader

I'm hoping I'm wrong, and that his fix would magically fix everything, but I"m still not sure. I have yet to try it anyway. Also, I have no way of checking the Express Card bay.

TAP TO CLICK: Works!

(EDITED) But only after I send it to sleep, and wake it up again, which kills the sound.

SPEEDSTEP: Dell Post Installer

I also executed some code to make speedstep start automatically with root priveleges, but I cant find it

Did I forget anything?

Yes, this is don't fully working, I talk to some guys and this driver still in development to fix bugs.

I recommend to you , when fix things there, made a guide for Dell Vostro 1510, I think this can help some peoples.

Thanks... I'm documenting everything copiously for that very end....

But I'm still confused:
the Chunan fix... is it for ExpressCard bus or for SD/MMC cardreader?

Also, the Taruga pages which everyone is referring to are just not coming up... Any ideas for alternative sources of the information? I've googled till i'm sic :hack: :hack:

hey guys
its been a while since i came here. you guys have gone a long way.


for the WiFi the Dell TrueMobile 1395 you can use this download the one that is appropriate (mine was the xxxx_xxx_)0.5.1pre.sh to you the installation is fairly easy

Place the bcm43xx_enabler.sh on your desktop(this is what messed me up)
open terminal
type "sudo /Users/your_user_name/Desktop/bcm43xx_enabler.sh"
keep pressing enter until it says its done
Reboot
Config your Wireless
Njoy


for the AUDIO ALC268 use this

my Ethernet worked out of the box

currently im working on getting leopard installed form the retail dvd

swiftarrow: Chunan are work to fix both, this version is for debug, test it and relate bugs to he fix in future versions.
