The old version of iJailbreak downloaded it to the stock original 3.9.
If your not sure e-mail Arix (the iJailbreak guy) or PM him on here and ask him. If it is the stock bootloader then you can't upgrade back to 4.6 unless you do a hardware update - so forget it! If it is the 3.9FB then you can go back to 4.6 but you will LOSE your unlock as the unlock only works on 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 with 3.9 bootloader. There is no way to tell the difference between 3.9 and 3.9FB using any iPhone app as far as I know - they will both show up as 3.9_M3S2. |

Correct, bbupdater will not be able to tell you which of the 2 you have.

What if we try & use iLiberty+ to update it to 4.6BL. Will it have adverse effects if I have an the official 3.9BL. Or will it just refuse to update it and if I have the 3.9FB, the end result will be the 4.6BL.
Because I am in the same boat, I really don't know which 3.9 I have. My situation was is that I have 3 16GB iphones which I unlocked with different methods and I couldn't remember which is which. I also thought that by using BBinfo, I can see which BL I have (offical of FB) |

I had 4.6 originally then I downgraded it to 3.9 with Ziphone (shows 3.9_M3S2). I tried to do update bootloader to 4.6 with liberty+ and it's failed... I think it's because I have 3.9 from Ziphone. Could you advise how can I change it?

the only way you can see if the bootloader 3.9 is FB or not is to use bootneuter. Running bootneuter will tell you (just don't hit the flash button if you don't know what you are doing).
Bootneuter requires your iphone to be on 1.1.4. To change the bootloader version, the safe way to do it is to use bootneuter. You select the version of BL you want then hit flash and wait. (best to set auto lock to never before flashing it). Once the BL is changed, you run bootneuter again and this time you set neuter=on, fb = off, unlock=on. This will neuter the 4.6 BL and unlock the baseband. Note: you can do all of this in one step but I prefer to do it in 2 steps. When running bootneuter, you have to wait for it to finish. DO NOT touch anything - if you interrupt the process, you will be screwed !! |
