"waiting for reboot" problem
Can someone please help me, I've been having problems jailbreaking my iphone for a few weeks now and have been trying on and off to do it.
My problem now is I get through part of the process after redsn0w has identified the ipsw file and I have put the phone into dfu mode it gets to a stage where it get stuck on "waiting for reboot" I have researched this alot and have tried unplugging and plugging back in way too many times or trying different usb ports and trying it straight after I have restored the phone with no apps or anything on it. I have read I might not be using the right firmware could someone clarify if this is right. My phone is a 3g on 4.0.1 I am using redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 but am having to use 4.0_8A293 when I browse for the ipsw file because if I choose 4.0.1_8A306 which my phone is updated too redsn0w can not identify it. Also I am running windows 7. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix for it because it's driving me mad! I can not use the phone because it is locked to another provider. Pleeeeease help!

I have this problems in past, make sure, that you use iPhone1,2_4.0.1_8A306_Restore.ipsw and size it 313 733 kb, if u download with opera or another browser download again it with some manager.

Correct. Per the instructions, even if your device is running 4.0.1 or 4.0.2, you still point redsn0w at the original 4.0 IPSW. I do not believe your problem is firmware related.
Ultimately, however, if you have 4.0.1, you should just use jailbreakme.com to jailbreak. Restore to 4.0.1 and then activate, open Safari, go to jailbreakme.com, and swipe. You should be jailbroken in just a minute or two.
I'll admit this only works if you can legitimately activate, but your post doesn't mention anything about unlocking so I'm taking on faith that you're using an AT&T device w/ an AT&T SIM.
