I have iPhone 3G with 3.1.3, few days ago, I went to update to 4.2.1 and JB via Redsn0w and upgrade my BB too. Right now my phone is 3G + 4.2.1 + BB 06.15.00, and seem like the GPS is not working at all. I have tried install SAM but just fix the battery issue, and my bootloader is 5.9, so I have no luck to downgrade my BB via bootloader too. Now my question is:

Can I still get the GPS back to working in my phone? or this functionality will forever gone in my phone until 'further notice'? I don't mind downgrade to any firmware or even don't want to jailbreak it, I just wish to get back my GPS and ensure all original function is working in my phone.

Admin or expert here, any advice to help me out? - (I need traveling with my wife soon..)

I don't understand why someone who started with iOS 3.1.3 would ever need to update to baseband 6.15? Custom IPSW is what you should have chosen. The risk of losing GPS was made VERY clear in the release notes for the iPad unlock solution.

Oh well the damage is done now.

The GPS problem only occurs with iOS 4.2.1 and the iPad baseband, try an older iOS version. I'd start with iOS 3.1.3 (unless you have a saved SHSH for an iOS 4.x version)

So since the damage is done, my next question is - can i still restore with 4.0 or 4.1? and what's the way? "Shift+Restore" or Reset Factory Settings? Or..? Any best way to advice me to retrieve back my GPS or not? Haiz...

If you have no clue about saved SHSH, then you probably don't have any. It is still worthwhile that you check (using tinyumbrella)

Without a saved SHSH you will find it difficult to restore any iOS 4.x version.

What i done:
I went to choose "Reset All Setting" on my phone last night

This morning, I connect to iTunes and "Shift+Restore" and restore back to 4.2.1 for my phone.

Now the phone keep on stuck on "a cable ask u connect to iTunes" - but even its connected to iTunes and etc, my iTunes seem like cannot detect anything on my phone, and my phone cannot just stuck there. I tried to use Tiny Umbrella to give it a kcik but Tiny Umbrella can't work (keep on tell me Java error, I tried to solved but still the same)

What's my phone condition? Anyone here still can help? Do we have iPhone's God here? or time for me throw the phone?

Custom IPSW (pwnagetool) is your best solution.

I'd try Pwnagetool 4.2 (iOS 4.2.1), that will get your phone working again (but probably won't fix the GPS issue)

Virtualize OS X (virtual box is free) on top of windows and run pwnagetool that way.

Find a friend with a mac and borrow that for an hour.

Googling told me sn0wbreeze is the windows version of pwange.

So last night i download sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 and try to install, but my iPhone still no response... everything going OK but just stuck at "Waiting IBBS...."
So, seem like my phone is keep on stuck repeatly in recovery mode - anyway to solved?

i try to gogling again and down another file call RAP4 rc try to solve it but no luck - is it we can't solved this over a thereatern JB phone?

Funny - i didnt expect that i will lost a phone bcoz of software upgrade, i think this will never happen on other phone like Nokia, right?
