    Default upgrading 3.0 > 3.1.2

I jailbroke my 16gb 3gs a few months ago with redsn0w. It has the 3.0 firmware. I'm looking to stay jailbroken and upgrade to 3.1.2. What's the safest way?

    Thanks!

Pwnagetool custom ipsw is the only safe way. You can either make a custom ipsw with your mac or if you only have windows you can download a pre-made custom ipsw and load it via shift-click restore in iTunes.

    Default In the same boat

I have a 16GB 3Gs with 3.0.1 (jb'd) and would like to move to 3.1.2. Am I correct in understanding that I can't use pwnagetool with baseband 04.26.08? What's the best way to upgrade? TIA

You can use pwnagetool with baseband 04.26.08, it is actually the default configuration for pwnagetool 3.1.4 and OS 3.1.2 to block the baseband upgrade so you stay on 04.26.08.

If you are on a mac, the best way to upgrade is via pwnagetool.

On windows, you can download a premade pwnagetool custom ipsw from the net, as long as your iPhone is jailbroken at 3.0.1 you can just load this via shift+restore in iTunes.

I have 3G (not 3GS) phone. It's new a phone which has issues with booting after I tried to JB it using blackra1n utility while 3.1.2 firmware was installed on it. I downgraded firmware on this phone and installed JB 3.0.1 using redsn0w utility. Will I be able to upgrade to JB 3.1.2 now using utilities on MS Windows XP?

    Thanks!

Redsn0w 0.9 doesn't change much for someone at 3.0.1, does it? I can either upgrade straight firmware to 3.1.2 via iTunes and then redsn0w and purplera1n, or else PwnageTool?

Maybe I should just wait until 4.0?

Purplera1n is for 3GS only running OS 3.0 it is a dead product.

I thought you had a 2G iPhone, have answered your question regarding that phone there.

Redsn0w 0.9 beta is mostly for those who want to move to 3.1.2 but don't want to use blackra1n.

You are still using purplera1n as your unlock? Ultrasn0w is based on the same exploit but implemented in a much nicer way.

Sorry, I meant blackra1n. But I'm currently on a 3G with OS 3.0.1 jailbroken with PwnageTool and unlocked with Ultrasn0w.
