    Default Stuck while upgrading

    Hello all,
i have iPhone 2G. It was ulocked and jailbroken on 2.0.2 and everything works well. But today i get an ich and i start to upgrading it on 3.0.1 with this guide:

iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.0.x Using RedSn0w (Windows)

At first everything goes well until step 10, but then it came to the point when my phone should be rebooted. After few seconds in step 11 i get a msg that redsnow stoped working (windows is looking for solution.nothing). huh. i then try to repet all of the steps, but nothing works. Now i am stucked and have no idea what to do. On display i have a iTunes logo and usb.
I also put the phone in DFU mode and tryed the hole proces from the start, but no sucsess.

When i try to connect to iTunes at 1st i did get this msg:
"itunes cannot activate your iphone, becouse the sim card is not inserted or a sim pin is required. Dissconect your iphone and make sure the sim card is inserted correctly and if you use a sim pin tap unlock to enter it and then reconect your iphone."

Now i geting this: the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported. only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate the phone. please insert the sim card that came with your iphone or visit a store (not possible in my case). I get this msg even that my sim is inserted and unlocked.

Otherwise this how is my iPhone perfome now:
    - when power on i can unlock sim card and get emergency call display only
    - i can make calls (when i go for emergancy call i can dial numbers trough number pad)
    - i can recive calls
    - but i can't get to the board and icons so i am stucked in "ER" calls display (so every other function is not working)

This all puzzles me, becouse i would espect that other then emergency calls i shouldn make any other calls, and i shouldn't be able to recive calls, right?
As i said, i have my sim card in and i can unlock it with my sim pin. I also have an original At&T sim card with me if it will be required somehow.

Now i am totaly confused. Even if i want to try to do something about it, i dont know where to start? whats going on? What should i do? Aperently my phone is unlocked, and if so, where should i go from there?

As you can imagine now iam all frustrated, thinking what to do, but to be honest, my knowledge is just not up to this. And i worrie that if i try something on my own i'll just make things worst then they already are.

Can somebody please help me and tell me what to do? And what is going on with my phone?
    I'll be forever gratefull.
Best regards to all from Slovenia,
    Tom
PS: i have windows 7 on my PC

Last update: the latest msg that i get when conecting to itunes is this (even so my sim is inserted and unlocked): the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported. only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate the phone. please insert the sim card that came with your iphone or visit a store (not possible in my case).
now i am totaly confused. even if i try to do something about it i dont know where to start? whats going on? oh, and i can also recive calls and answer them. and most idiotic. i can actualy make calls. but still can get to the board. arghhh.
    Okay don't panic.

It sounds like you need to hacktivate.

Your problems with windows saying that redsn0w has stopped working, I have seen that before.

You have to start again at the first step in the iClarified guide you were using. This safe, you won't have any problems

There are three things you can try. They all should work.

    1. Use redsn0w 0.9.2 instead, this version supports jailbreaking either OS 3.0 and OS 3.1.2 and has a few more features and bug fixes than redsn0w 0.8 which the guide you are using tells you to use.
    2. If you still want to use redsn0w 0.8, turn off the Icy option. This has been known to cause problems with jailbreak.
    3. For redsn0w 0.8, try right-click on redsn0w.exe and select properties. in the compatibility tab, check the box that says run in compatibility mode and select an operating system (I suggest Win XP). After that, right click on redsn0w.exe again and select run as admin- then it should work.

thank you very much for your help and a quick respond.
but what about those sim card msgs in itunes? when i try to connect with itunes i get the msg that my sim card is not supported and that i should replace it with the one that came with iphone (at&t in my case).
so, what should i do? do u think that i should try to reinstal itunes or it wont matter?
or should i replace a sim card? but, what to do in this case? just do so, as u said in post or something else?

Just ignore the sim card messages. They will go away when you have run redsn0w properly.

Put your 2G phone into dfu mode then start the iclarified procedure from the step where you restore the 3.0 ipsw
