So I have a iPhone 3G that go updated to iOS 4.2.1 thanks to a dumbass friend and iTunes. Because of this the baseband has changed to 5.15.4? The phone is a MB model. I did some google research and found out that the only way to unlock this phone would be changing the baseband to the iPad variant and using redsn0w is an easy method.
So I got the FW files for OS 4.2.1 for iPhone 3G, got Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 and Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9. Started redsn0w, loaded up the IPSW and selected the iPad Baseband option in addition to the default ones. After this I had to put the phone into DFU mode and redsn0w began its process.
Now comes the fun part, after getting the Baseband files redsn0w uploads the files to the phone and then it says waiting for reboot. During this my iPhone screen glows and stays that way. redsn0w says the process will continue on the phone and the only option is to hit finish. The phone screen keeps glowing, no matrix-style text, no pineapple, nothing.
So I keep it like for 5 mins, just for funzies and then press the power button down for 5 seconds and the glowing screen goes away, pressing the power button again boots up the phone. Everything is as it was before I started the jailbreak process. Nothing has changed. I try again with a different version of redsn0w and still no success.
At this point I am completely lost and would welcome any suggestions you all might have![]()
