[Problem] Text Messages Not Saving
I just unlocked my 2G iphone with redsn0w. It was successful - however, text messages now will not save. When I open the 'Messages' app, the list of recently sent texts is blank. If I send a message to a contact, it will appear in the list until I go back to the home screen. When I hope the app again, it is completely blank.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Edit - My problem is also described here in a thread I found: http://www.modmyi.com/forums/pwnage/...receiving.html

I am having the same exact problem on my 2G iPhone which was upgraded to the 3.0.1 firmware and unlocked using Redsn0w.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I think it has to do with the SMS messages green icon application inherent in the system. Anyone have a fix for this application.
Thanks.

Problem Solved!!! SMS and Notes Application not saving histories---Fixed
What I figured out just now is that after you do a firmware upgrade using Redsn0w, the SMS messaging and Notes application work perfectly, but after you use iTunes to do a backup restore from your old 1.x.x (in my case 1.0.2) operating system, the SMS application stops saving histories of your SMS text messages and keeps erasing them.
After taking a look, I discovered that the sms.db file is "corrupt" and not in the same format as that required by operating systems above 2.0, including 3.0.1. Therefore, the solution is to remove the "corrupted" sms.db file and replace it with a new one or one generated from the 3.0.1 operating system.
To fix the problem of the SMS application not saving your histories
Solution:
1. Open Mobile Terminal, after downloading it from Cydia.
2. cd /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS
3. rm sms.db
4. Reboot the iPhone! (turn it off and on again)
Upon reboot, the SMS application generates a brand new sms.db file with the proper formatting, instead of trying to append-write to the old corrupted sms.db file.
After doing this, SMS Messaging should work properly again! Yay!!!
(This will also fix the problem if your SMS text message hangs at say 80-90% without sending.)
To fix the problem with the Notes application not saving your notes
Solution:
1. Open Mobile Terminal, after downloading it from Cydia.
2. cd /private/var/mobile/Library/Notes
3. rm Notes.db
4. Reboot the iPhone!
Isn't it nice when you can post a problem on a message board and figure out the solution to fixing it within minutes of posting the problem! Such a nice but rare feeling.
Hope this helps a bunch of iPhone users, especially those with 2G phones upgraded to 3.0.1 from 1.x.x firmware patches.
Happy Texting and Note making!

What about old SMS and Notes?
Will these be able to be put back onto the phone after upgrading from 1.x to 3.0?

Hi
Just make sure you type it exactly like below & it should work fine.

I believe that the upgrade of these databases requires that you not skip OS 2.x
think the key is to do something like this.
1. Downgrade to 1.1.4, restore the sms.db
2. Use the upgrade (not restore) feature to go to 2.0
3. Use the upgrade feature to go to 3.0
