This is a bit strange.

I'm using version 0.7.2. Updated my phone to 3.0. Then I ran redsn0w. IPSW was detected correctly, everything worked fine (apparently), got the "redsn0w has finished" message, but the iPhone keeps showing the "Downloading Jailbreak Data..." and stays there. Nothing happens afterwards.

Am I doing something wrong?

Me.. stuck at the first step.. try to restore iPhone1_2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw from my Windows XP - iTunes 8.1.1.10 but got error message, "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (10).

Do you have any idea..?
trying to change the usb port still got the same issue.
i check all the services it's all started. telnet, terminal services only i don't have messenger here.. but before I was succeed to jailbreak into FW2.2.1.

anw mine is iPhone 3G | BL 5.09 | FW. 2.2.1 | BB. 02.30.03.

I believe I may have found out what I did wrong.

I re-did everything... went back to 2.2.1... lots of problems there. I had a hint something was really wrong when QuickPwn wasn't working either. So I started trying to find out what could be wrong.

Apparently, the following services were down on my PC:

Messenger
Terminal Services
Telnet

I activated them and updated to 3.0, then used redsn0w, then ultrasn0w.

Results:

Wi-Fi!
3G / EDGE!
Bluetooth!
OS 3.0!

About that error code 10 i already solved it...


I just updated into iTunes 8.2 the recent.
so..
thats it..
now i got it unlocked too.

based on the comments below i did start the 3 services (Messenger, Telnet &
Terminal Services ) on my PC too but the error persists

I am stuck on the "Downloading Data" screen

I have been trying for ages to unlock my phone -
I am working with:
Iphone 2G
3.0.1
Windows XP

I have tried:
redsnOw 0.7.2
redsnOw 0.8.0
Activiating Messenger, Telnet and terminal Services
Trying a different USB port
Trying a different computer.
Using a computer with iTunes 8
Using a computer with iTunes 9

I can't downgrade from 3.0.1 'cos iTunes says the phone needs a valid sim etc...

Phew.. fixed it..
If anyone else has been an idiot like me and upgraded to iphone firmware 3.1..
you may find you can't jailbreak your phone. Here's what worked for me,
no guarantees, your milage may vary etc.. I was on XP with an iPhone 2G.

I bought an 02 payg sim (£2.30 from tesco's in the uk at the mo!)
That let me connect the simlocked phone to itunes..

Get Itunes 8.2! - later versions do not allow firmware downgrading!
So you may need to uninstall itunes 9 etc and reinstall itunes 8.2

Get hold of the 3.0 firmware *.ipsw file for your version of iPhone - use google
Attach phone via usb, hold down the SHIFT key when u click restore in itunes.
You will get a browse folders dialogue - select your 3.0 firmware
My phone's 2G so in my case it was: "iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw"
Let itunes restore your phone.
When it reboots itunes should show your phone as being 3.0 again.

Now you can Jailbreak it using one of the many excellent 3.0 jailbreak guides on the net

And umm..don't accidentally upgrade to 3.01 again till the dev team have jailbroken it...

I tried the same thing again - since my iPhone was unlocked and running 1.14 i even tried the whole thing without checking the "Unlock Checkbox" but nothing works

Infact the system does not re-boot after loading the ipsw, it just keeps saying "verifying itunes..." and when i start redsnow iTunes stops and then i proceed with the instructions

any ideas ?
