Hey need some help this is my first time jailbroken and unloking and iphone i have a iphone 2g download redsnow all the file boatloaders everhthing i folow everything to the t but heres my problem y restore the iphone to the latest firmware but when i open redsnow and ask me to find the ipsw file i can't find the file on the folder is there but don't know why i does not show on the redsknow drop down or browse box to locate the file sure i'm doint something wrong or i'm missing something a program o something everything seen so easy but don;t know why this is happening if someonw can help me thanks

You say you have downloaded everything but have you downloaded the 2G 3.0 firmware?

you probably downloaded the firmware file with safari and it decompressed it.

look in the trash for the original file or try downloading again with firefox.

okay, i have a iphone 3g with 4.1 software

i have bought three different jailbreaking software systems, and none have worked yet!

I am running on an acer windows 7 home premium.
i have downloaded - automaticiphoneunlocker.com, bestunlockeriphone.com, and another one i found out didnt have the 4.1 software, but the other two say they should work!

i can download the redsnow and extract that file fine, once i get to the point where i must "browse" for the firmware that i downloaded its just empty files till the end, and then its just image files that i cannot see.

what am i doing wrong! this is driving me crazzzzzzy!

How many times do we need to say this:

• Jailbreak does not equal unlock.
• If you pay for jailbreak or unlock, you are paying for a scam. These will always be free, people who sell jailbreak and unlock did NOT develop them and are exploiting you and ripping off the real authors of these tools.
• The baseband of 4.1 cannot be unlocked by any unofficial unlock method. The indications are strong that there will not be another unlock until iOS 5.0 next june/july
• The program you used to download the IPSW also unzipped it for you. It should NOT do this. Redsn0w requires an IPSW not a folder of files unzipped from the IPSW
• Redsn0w 0.9.6 (beta) redsn0w 0.9.6 BETA [iPhone Dev Team] WILL jailbreak 4.1 on a 3G - it will NOT unlock.
• Redsn0w 0.9.6 beta is Mac OS X only - so you cannot use it with windows 7. A windows version will eventually be released (probably in a few weeks)
• There is a 0.0001% chance you have a 3G that is able to downgrade the baseband. You can check the serial number (on the SIM tray) is xx827 or lower, if it is then you should try fuzzyband from cydia -http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=3977

All these items have been mentioned many times in other threads. Please try and search before wasting the moderators time answering the same questions over and over again.
