Please Help. Tried to upgrade with redsn0w but phone won't boot

Hi there, I am having some troubles with the redsn0w jailbreak, please help.

Right, so here the issue. I am trying redsn0w for the first time on a 3G iphone that has been jailbroken pre 2.0. I downloaded the 3.2 firmware and the phone was running 3.0. I followed the instructions and watched a youtube vid but I must have missed something.

I clicked “Already Pwned” and “Verbose Boot” for the first time I installed it. Everything seemed to work until phone rebooted, the loading screen came up and stuff was happening. Then the phone runs into some issue.

The screen goes black (not off, the light is still on) and stays like that for about 2 or 3 minutes, then the screen flashes up for a second but now the respring circle is on, back to black for another 2 or 3 minutes, then the screen flashes as before, back to black, and then the screen flashes white for a moment and the phone reboots.

I have tried to install with Cydia and without “Verbose Boot” with no luck. The previous firmware was 3.0 as I said, should it have been 3.2 before I began?

This is some of the stuff from the boot, not sure if any of it’s useful.

Do you mean 3.1.2?

Can you be clearer with explaining the steps you took. Redsn0w version etc

Sorry, that was what I meant to write. Yes, I am trying to get 3.1.2 and I was running 3.0. The ispw file I ran redsn0w on is Phone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw. The redsn0w version is the latest from the Dev Team site, 0.9.2. Essentially then I ran redsn0w, clicked “Already Pwned” and “Verbose Boot” for the first time I installed it. Everything seemed to work great, everything went ahead automaticly while the bootrom did it's thing, and the phone rebooted great, but it won't get past the loading screen. I've reflashed about 4 or 5 times now using different settings but keep getting the same problem.

Umm. It sounds like you did not restore or update to 3.1.2 before you tried to jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.2

Humm, ok, so I am supposed to be running 3.1.2 on the phone BEFORE I try to hack it (crappy youtube vid never said anything about that bit)

Sorry, that was a question. I just want to be 1000% sure that I am going about this the right way.

1- I install 3.1.2 from iTunes?
2- This will be the standard, jailed version of the software?
3- I run redsn0w, it's going to be a clean install so install cydia rather than already pwned?
4- enjoy?

yeah - that is generally correct. See the guide below.

iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3GS on OS 3.1.2 Using RedSn0w (Windows)

I recommend you use redsn0w 0.9.2 (which you already have) rather than the redsn0w 0.9.4 in the guide (which is actually not for 3G iPhones)
