iPhone 3gs 3.1.2 Stuck in DFU Mode - Please Help!
Hi
I have an iphone 3gs with firmware 3.1.2. I successfully unlocked and jailbroke the phone about a month ago using redsn0w. However the jailbreak was untethered so I couldnt turn the phone off.
Recently my battery went flat (was stuck without a charger one day). When I charged it up it, it rebooted to the standard restore mode (ie pic of cable with iTunes logo). No problem I thought as i would just run redsn0w and re-jailbreak it.
I started redsn0w to do the jailbreak as before and everything was going as normal (data was being transferred etc) but when the iphone was due to reboot it hung on the black DFU screen.
I have tried using all combination of button resets (power and home button for 10/20 secs etc) but the phone is non responsive and all I get is the black DFU screen. I can connect it to my PC ok and it pops up in iTunes with message that the iphone is in DFU mode and needs restored. I know if itunes does this it will install firmware 3.1.3 which I don’t want.
I tried shift and restore to select the official 3.1.2 firmware but this fails as iTunes says it cant be verified.
I then decided to create a custom hacked 3.1.3 firmware using sn0wbreeze. The firmware created ok but when i try to restore via iTunes I get the dreaded 1600 error.
So now i have an iphone that hasn’t been updated to 3.1.3 but is unresponsive. Its frustrating as the iphone is still on 3.1.2 with the old bootrom and I have the firmware i need but iTunes wont let me restore the phone to the firmware that was on the phone!
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can overcome this problem? I don’t want to restore using 3.1.3 as I need the phone unlocked and jailbroken as without its locked to Orange and I’m on O2! Also I didn’t back up my SHH on cydia so I think that rules that option out?
Your suggestions are welcome!
