SORRY - just realised this is in the wrong section of the forum !

so I jailbroke my iphone 3G a while back. No problems with it at all (touch wood). Really appreciate all the added functionality. Anyway, I want the new 3.0 software and am wondering, if I have to restore using itunes and update to new 3.0 software before using redsnow, wont I loose all of the apps and things that I have acquired using installer/icy etc over the last 6 months?

I have videos and things from cycorder for example on my phone that I want to keep......

Is there a way to keep the jailbroken apps and things I have now, and update to the new software?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

the only way you can keep ur old stuff is by doing an "Update" to 3.0.

I would definately recommend doing a "DFU Restore" as the chances are high of running into problems doing just an "Update".

Mind you, I did an "Update" on mine and was able to keep all my stuff but initally i ran into problems...

1st, phone got stuck in restore mode, then computer froze, tried to take the phone out of restore mode and comp crashed again. Successfully took it out of restore mode and re did "Update" and it worked.

When the phone started up, Cydia installed programs were missing e.g. Cycorder, MxTube but when i reinstalled them through Cydia, all my videos showed up again so very happy with that!

so...if i were you...i would backup whatever i can. Try the "Update" method first but be ready to loose everything just in case....and in this case...its mostly likely u will.
