When you accidentally put firmware 3.1.3 on your iphone, the process updated your modem/baseband firmware from 05.11.07 to 05.12.01.
Eventhough you managed to downgrade to firmware 3.1.2 to your phone so you can perform the jailbreak, which you successfully did. However, the downgrade process can only put the OS to 3.1.2 but it cannot downgrade your modem firmware to 05.11.07. Therefore, you will not be able to unlock that phone at the moment. There is NO UNLOCK for baseband 05.12.01 at this time

If you're using the phone on the AT&T network, you may need to do a reset of your network settings to get connectivity after an OS downgrade.
As dtube said, 3.1.3 included the 05.12.01 baseband which is (at present) not able to be unlocked. If you're needing to use this phone on a non AT&T carrier and it's not a factory unlocked device, upgrading to 3.1.3 shut the door on you until 3.2 comes out and the respective jailbreak and (hopefully) unlock.

All though I am successfully Jailbroke my 3g "redsnow" with base band 05.12.01, and I am a ATT paid carrier, My phone is showing no carrier. Is there a way around the No carrier? A way around with a legit paid carrier? Or do I have to wait for the future hack?

This phone was not activated for me. My sim was activated through Itunes on my mac. I got the phone off ebay and when It arrived it was busted up. I put it back together, I found that it had been hacked and upgraded. They then could not get the phone off "sim card not recognized" So I had to downgrade and re-run the hack to get it back to life.. And then get it out of restore mode. After all that, I got it back up and running and here we are. So I was wondering if since I am on a legit carrier. Is there a way around it? Can the phone just be restored back to original state? Thanks for your help.
