Unhappy Need help in unlocking Iphone 3G without SIM

I unlocked my Iphone 3G 3.0.1 last year using redsn0w and was running perfectly. Recently I restored my OS to factory settings through iTunes. Now I dont have a valid sim and it is restored back to original settings. When I connect that to iTunes it says "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported". Please help me in unlocking this now if there is any way without having a valid sim.

If not please guide me what best can be done to get my iPhone back to life.

Well there's two way to this,
    One:

you find what carrier the iPhone is with, (eg. AT&T, Fido etc) and use one of their Sim cards to unlock it.

    OR:

The way I've done it is i downloaded Redsn0w V0.9.4 (make sure you download version 9.4) And download the firmware (.ipsw) your Iphone is currently running on, and open it through redsn0w!

Then follow the redsn0w instructions, and that should take you off the emergency screen.

If you wish to Unlock it so your phone can use your carrier, then goto cydia and search for "Ultrasn0w"

Download Redsn0w 0.9.4 : RapidShare AG, Cham, Switzerland

    Hope this helped!

You restored to factory settings, did you let iTunes pick the iOS version to restore or did you specifically shift-click restore and browse to a specific IPSW?

TinyUmbrella The Firmware Umbrella can help with this by allowing you to identify the iPhone model number (which tells you what country the iPhone was sold in - it will be locked to a carrier in that country)

It also tells you the current iOS version and the baseband version.

Tiny Umbrella can find all of this information even if the phone is stuck on the "slide for unlock" screen.

The baseband is most important as if you let the iphone restore to 4.1 you have nearly zero chance of unlocking it again via ultrasn0w (at least in the next few months)

    Don't use 0.9.4 - use 0.9.2 downloaded from here redsn0w 0.9.2 [iPhone Dev Team]

0.9.4 was a beta (admittedly very stable) that was never intended for use on any iPhone (only on one specific iPod Touch model).

Both 0.9.2 and 0.9.4 will only work up to iOS 3.1.3 - I suspect the original poster has restored to 4.1
