Jailbreaking 3GS - version 4.2.1
I'am trying to jailbreak my Iphone 3GS with firmware 4.2.1 . Now when i open Itunes and hold down shift and press restore, I find the required file (iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw) and press open. But I keep getting the following error : " The Iphone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible. So i tried to re-download the the file again but i keep getting the same error. The ipsw file which I have been trying to acquire is 401mb. Not sure what im doing wrong or if the file is corrupted.
Im no expert when it comes to jailbreaking or iphones, and my question might be a stupid one but any guidance will be appreciated
You appear to be downloading the correct file. If your operating system counts 1k as 1024 bytes then the file size sounds pretty much correct.
