    Default jailbreak help

    I have a 3g 8gb i phone with 3.1.3 (7e18) firmware and 5.12.01 modem firmware.
I have never jail broke this i phone but i want to. From what i have read and tried apple has stopped signing the firmware 3.1.2 which makes it impossible to download, but in the posts it says that 3g's do not have to have signed firmware. I have tried to (shift) restore my i phone back to 3.1.2 and receive error code 1015???? I don't know what to do any help would be appreciated. I don't know if there is a way to accomplish this or if i have to wait for a new jailbreak? Thank you.
ps I am using windows vista for my i tunes.

You are correct that 3G iPhones do not need a SHSH to restore.

Also 1015 is normal see: Update and restore alert messages on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Error 1015: This error is caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple.
Simply use iRecovery to exit from recovery mode and you will have downgraded (but you generally can't downgrade the baseband)

i downloaded the irecovery and it said unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because libusb0.dll was not found Re-installing application may fix this problem.

Start a command prompt (cmd.exe) and run iRecovery from within the command prompt. On older windows, it is as simple as dragging and dropping iRecovery icon onto the command prompt. With windows 7 you can't do this (security) so you need to copy/paste the path to iRecovery or simply type it into the command prompt.

Might need to be an administrative command prompt, I am not sure.
