iPhone has non-responsive zone
hello, when u r asking for help, u should make sure to keep ur words at minimum level, otherwise people would lose interest reading such a huge help post. i tried to explain so that u know exactly what my problem is. since my problem IS an interestig one.
enough said, straight to the problem now.
my iphone has fw 3.0, and i used redsn0w to unlock and activate the phone.
the process seemed flawless, since i could make/receive calls, use other features.
but suddenly i found out that a certain screen area of the iphone is not responding.
if you turn on ur iphone, tap phone, then tap keypad..the area around number 4 5 6 - is not responding!!!

if i tap 1 2 3, it enters 1 2 3. same with 7 8 9, works fine.
but tapping 4 5 6 does not do anything.
when im at the home screen, similar thing, the 2nd row (where u find youtube) is non-responsive. other rows are fine.

im at the settings menu and, i cannot open the carrier menu, since its in my non-responsive zone.

whats the problem here???
appreciating ur help.

You might have a problem with the digitizer, now, is this iPhone new to you? have u used it before? did the problem appear after upgrading to 3.0? did it work fine with previous FWs?

this phone is used, i got it from ebay.
it has scratches on the back, no rough ones, but has the usual wear and tear.
it came with 3.0 (locked).
i used redsn0w to unlock.
if i do have digitizer problem, what should i do about it?
thanks.

First I would try a DFU restore of the 3.0 FW, then proceed to redsn0w and test it.
If the problem persists, then the touch panel (aka digitizer), may be damaged, which you will need to replace.
The digitizer is a fairly cheap part and somewhat easy to replace, so if you bought the iPhone from ebay, the you might be willing to repair it unless you can have the seller replace the iPhone for another one, its up to you.
There are websites such as www.pdaparts.com that sell iPhone parts, the digitizer goes for around $40 there and just search youtube for "disassemble iphone" and you'll get nice fancy videos on how to take apart your iphone, you might need to get an opener tool too, thats like $3.

Replaced 3G iPhone Digitizer now touch responses are not matching value pressed.
This is wierd. I replaced the digitizer assembly in an iphone 3g now in order to turn on phone app must press weather which is one row up and to the right. Most respones to actual touch are to the left. Please help.
