    Default iPhone 2G baseband problems

hey guys i have an old iphone 2g (jailbroken) and everything was working fine with it until i gave it to one of my mates who needed a phone. we tried to work out a way to erase all of the contacts in one go..

one thing lead to another and clicked "erase baseband" app on cydia instead of getting rid of contacts...this seems to have made the phone unuseable now.

ive tried jailbreaking it and to no avail. i used several diff jailbreaks.. redsnow blackrain n ziphone and none have worked. (just goes back to the connect to itunes screen for the first time)

has anybodyyy got ANY suggestions with this? help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Can you be more clear about the app you used? I can't find one that is erase baseband. Don't use ziphone it just makes things worse.

Also, an iPhone restore log might help diagnose the problem better. Post it on pastebin and link to it here.

oh sorry. didnt want to write all the details if no one would reply. so thanks for your time.

the app was actually called erase baseband from the cydia source. so i stupidly thought that it would erase the contacts..

sorry i dont get what you mean by an iphone restore log. its telling me on itunes that it is not recognised and needs to be restored. this would completely lock the phone wouldnt it?

a note also came up on the screen saying that your iphone is unable to make and receive calls. please contact apple.com/support

hope this helps? if you need anymore details, do not hesitate to ask

put the iPhone into DFU mode. Let iTunes restore it. If that does not fix the problem then find the iPhone restore log (this is in different locations on mac/windows) then paste that log onto pastebin.com and link that posting to this thread.

Most likely will fix the problem.

2G iPhone can always be jailbroken. Unless the baseband is really screwed it can always be unlocked also.

Restore log - instructions on where to find it and how to share the log properly with forum are here http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/130802.htm

1011 - The file iTunesMobileDevice.dll is damaged or does not match the version expected by iTunes.

Also may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Attempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. If the MAC address is missing or the IMEI is the default value (00 499901 064000 0), this can also confirm a hardware issue.
