Default I screwed up my friend's iPhone - possible to fix it?

OK, so today I was a dumb idiot and wanted to jailbreak my friend's iphone 3G running 4.1, but I was stupid enough to use limera1n instead of redsn0w and it seems that I have bricked it. When I start it up, it gives me the "connect to iTunes" screen. I've tried EVERYTHING and every guide I could find, but nothing fixed this. I can run stuff like RecBoot or iReb which knock the phone out of recovery mode, but the only thing I get from that is a lock screen with the connect to iTunes picture in the background which only lets me do emergency calls. I can't restore it with iTunes (tried 3 diff. PCs and 1 Mac as well as different versions of iTunes, tried DFU, tried it not in recovery mode as well as in recovery mode, it always gives me either error 13 at about 75% or error 1601-1605 at the beginning or error 1015 also at around 75%), I've tried jailbreaking it using redsn0w 0.9.6b1 which gives me varying results: with the mac, it says it's finished but leaves the "downloading jailbreak data" screen on the iPhone and waiting gives no results, on the different windows PCs, it either crashes, does the same as on the mac or it goes through with it but only gives me a black screen and leaves the phone in recovery mode again. I've also tried different USB ports and cables. In iTunes, it says it's running 3.1.3 for some reason, so I tried recovering it to 3.1.3, which gave me the same thing as with 4.1 (when the bar on the phone is at like 75%, iTunes cancels the recovery and gives me an error 13). Does anyone have a clue what else I could do? I really don't wanna leave my friend with a bricked iPhone...

    Restore logs.. http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/130802.htm
This should be reversible via DFU mode. In combination with right firmware version and iTunes version.

Sorry about that, here's the last restore log in the folder (I'll upload a couple more to pastebin, I tried like 5 or 6 times at least).
    http://pastebin.com/iCd4uPaJ
I'm using Windows 7, but as I said, I also tried restoring it with iTunes (latest as of yesterday, October 16 2010, on the mac, on my Win 7 PC I have 9.1.0.79) on my neighbor's MacBook Pro running the latest OSX, but there it kept giving an error saying it couldn't connect to the Apple server. I also tried it on a Win Vista notebook, to no avail.
The iOS version on the iPhone was 4.1, but when I iREB'd/RecBooted it out of recovery mode (which gave me the connect to iTunes lockscreen, as mentioned in my original post), my iTunes (when it recognized it, which wasn't always the case) reported it to be 3.1.3 for some reason.
EDIT: here's some more restore logs
    http://pastebin.com/4dBngnV4
    http://pastebin.com/v4hST10j
    http://pastebin.com/HC58zJ89

These are all from the times when it actually started the actual restore, let me know if you need the ones from when it didn't even start the restore and cancelled at the "preparing iPhone for restore" stage. Also, I believe I was in DFU mode for at least some of these restore attempts, but I also tried it from the weird lock screen and from the connect to iTunes screen. From the lock screen, I got the same results as from DFU, and from the connect to iTunes screen it never got past the "preparing" stage in iTunes.

All the logs I looked at showed the error code as 1015 and that you were restoring to iOS 3.1.3

    Redsn0w 0.9.6 doesn't support 3.1.3 use redsn0w 0.9.2 http://wikee.iphwn.org/howto:rs9 and a 3.1.2 IPSW

    Error 1015

This error is common when downgrading iPhones and 3G-enabled iPads. The problem occurs when the device's baseband has a higher version number than the baseband in the firmware you restored to. Just set auto-boot true in iRecovery or use iREB/TinyUmbrella/RecBoot.1
You have the right approach with exiting recovery mode after the restore however I would always recommend TinyUmbrella or iRecovery or rslite to exit recovery mode. We don't support iREB or anything from ih8sn0w here.

If you still have no success with redsn0w 0.9.2 then my next guess is that the 4.1 baseband 05.14.02 is not compatible with iOS 3.1.3

What I would suggest you try is to restore to 4.1 instead of 3.3.1 - the baseband is already updated - so there is zero harm in this.

Also try pwnagetool 4.1 at iOS 4.1 rather than redsn0w.
