How to DFU iPhone 3G with broken power button, after failed jailbreak.
Hello,
I have a factory unlocked iPhone 3G with 4.2.1 that I jailbroke using RedSnow 0.9.14b2. It appeared succesful, but I could not get a signal, so I had to deactivate the jailbreak using Redsnow again, and wanted to restore it to the original 4.2.1 IPSW. But after deactivating the jailbreak my iPhone only shows the boot-up screen with the black screen and silver apple logo. iTunes doesn't see any connected iPhone and neither does RedSnow.
I need to get it back to DFU mode, but I can't because the power button is broken, AND iTunes needs to see the phone in order to allow me to use RedSnow's DFU IPSW restore trick.
Is there any way out of this pickle?

Have you tried making the DFU script in the new Redsnow it is designed for this problem, that should take care of your first problem,Now you say it's stuck in a boot loop this might be a little harder to fix w/broken power button,I have a 3g that had broken home button,I finally fixed it.try holding the home button for few sec. have your cable plugged to computer with iTune's open and while holding home button plug cable in and keep holding home button till you get HOPEFULLY the the iTune's screen to resore,if that doesn't work try a few variation's of this home and cable like just plugging cable in and then holding home, other than that you may have to order a power button, they are not that hard to install on i3g and ifixDirect has some great video walk though's on youtube that I am sure you could get it done.keep trying they is something that will make it get into restore mode and don't forget the dfu script in RS also remember to also reboot computer and clean out all temp files and thing's like that sometimes it help's,,I hope this get's some result's for you

Hey vtails,
I already tried the DFU script in Redsnow. It requires one to use iTunes to restore an IPSW file. This doesn't work for me because iTunes can't detect the iPhone because of the failed jail break.
