Right first off i'm not great with computers but I'm trying to jailbreak my Iphone with redsn0w. I've downloaded the redsnow file for 4.0 then put it in a folder called Pwnage then I have unzipped the file, but there is no redsn0w icon for me to click on to open redsn0w up, I have also downloaded the firmwear but i cant even get as far as opening the redsn0w part. Ive been trying to work it out for ages but I just dont know how. Do I have to download something to open the redsn0w thing? I dont know if any of that makes sense but any help would be great!

Mac or windows? Are you following a guide? If so which one?

Great thanks that works now. My next problem is though i dont understand what to do next. how do I get the ipsw file, do I have to restore my phone and save it somehow? Also I had to activate my phone again and its now on 4.0.1 does that matter? Thanks for your help so far! And I'm on Windows.

Yes

You can use this redsn0w from June to jailbreak 4.0.1 on iPhone3G. Just point it at the 4.0 IPSW (the public one, not the developer GM one).

Im new at this, I jailbroke my 3g 4.0.1 with redsnow and unlocked it with cydia using ultrasn0w, and my service always fluctuates from 1 bar to full bars to no service, my carrier is tmobile, i place a at&t sim in and it got full bars and 3g i placed other tmobile sims in and same issue, i know this has been a issue for other people as well but i havent seen a solution

Did you turn off 3G mode when using T-Mobile?

yes i did, i also reset network settings and put it in airplane mode, etc still same problem
