Default "could not activate cellular data network"

I've seen a lot of people saying when they jailbreak their phone they can't call, and they can't open the app store with their phones etc. But mine does everything very well, but that error keeps popping up...

I've used redsn0w and blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 3G. I'm now on 3.1.2 with firmware 05.11.07.

Everything is fine when I'm on wifi or when I fill in the APN for Cellular Data, but I leave that blank most of the time since a) it costs way too much money, and b) pretty much in all of the area I have free wifi access. But when I'm not on wifi I keep getting that "could not activate cellular data network" message.

Any thoughts on how to get rid of that?

PS.: Very sorry if this has already been posted on here, I tried to search for it, but couldn't find my specific problem.

    Thanks in advance, Amoeder

Itīsa iPhone 3G? If yes, try use redns0w 0.9.4 + lateste ultrasn0w (repo666.ultrasn0w.com on Cydia) to fix network problems.

    Goodluck,

Think he was more looking for a way to disable the pop-up that reminds him that he's blanked out the APN information.

I would leave the APN filled in and use SBSettings to quickly toggle data service on and off. Problem is, you're still going to get the error message if you do that -- any time the system tries to establish a data connection and your data is switched off, it pops up that reminder with the option for you to go to Settings and turn it on.

Hate to say I don't know how to remove that reminder or notification...

Yes, was looking for a way to disable that pop-up!

Well too bad noone knows an answer... I might try upgrading to 4.X when I have more time later on this week. Who knows that might do the trick.

I'd like to thank you for trying to help me!

I can confirm that on iOS 4.0, using SBSettings to disable Data (or turning Cellular Data off in the Settings.app) still prompts you to turn it on any time you are not on Wi-Fi and attempt to use data. Hate to say I don't think iOS 4.0 will solve for you
