Default Blank screen after jailbreak - 3GS 3.1.2

A minute before I try to restore with itunes (to 3.1.3).
Is there another solution to that blank screen?
It is probably because I chose the redsn0w option for older boot rom (and mine is, apparently, the new one).

If you have chosen the wrong bootrom option in redsn0w as clearly explained in redsn0w. You only have one option restore a firmware that you have a corresponding SHSH for. If you have no backed up SHSH then 3.1.3 is the only OS you can restore to.

I could only back up the 3.1.3 SHSH (as I did) as apple do not sign 3.1.2 now.
I wonder why there aren't patches for iTunes to allow restore to any version.

The patches are for the iPhone and they are in pwnagetool. However this only works with old bootrom 3GS right now. They also don't work if you click the wrong button in redsn0w like you have done.

I succeeded running redsn0w without restoring to 3.1.3.
I ran itunes to restore to 3.1.3 while redsn0w is waiting for the device.
After itunes started, redsn0w shut it off and started working and reached the point where it shows "finished" and that the rest will continue on the iphone.
I don't know if this trick has any meaning as it is probably needed to restore the boot rom and only itunes can (?)

The problem is that after that, nothing happens. You can still run redsn0w and it will work but the iPhone doesn't continue the process.

As I wrote below, I succeeded running redsn0w but the process doesn't continue on the iPhone.
Do you think I can use pwnage tool or any other to restore the iPhone without iTunes?

The 3GS will not accept a firmware restore of a firmware without the SHSH hashes unless it is an early model and has previously been jailbroken. The newer devices cannot accept custom firmwares because of the SHSH limitation and the not-yet-cracked iBoot on the device.

If redsn0w doesn't work and blackra1n or iRecovery will not kick the device out of whatever mode it is in to get back to a home screen, as much as I hate to say it, I think your only option is a restore of 3.1.3.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Thank you for the replies.

I tried everything, including patched 3.1.3 version and nothing.
If I knew exactly how redsn0w works and what it does maybe I could have found a way. But as I figure out, I think the wrong patch of redsn0w just "killed" the 3.1.2 software on the device, so it had to be fully restored, a thing only iTunes can do (why?). I thought I might catch iTunes in the "middle" so it will update the bootrom (or whatever needed) but not update the baseband.

So...I had no choice so I restored to 3.1.3.

I did save the 3.1.3 SHSH files when the device was in 3.1.2 (not jailbroken) for future use.
