Default 3GS:Unable to tether boot anymore

    Fact:
    3GS 16G
    • with new bootrom, confirmed by checking Device Instance Path: IBOOT-359.3.2
    • 3.1.2

    Sympton
    • Jailbreak using blackrain. and was able to reboot and tether boot with blackrain
    • one day, all the sudden, i can't not teher boot anymore, redsnow or blackrain. iphone is always stuck at the Recovery window.
    • i tried to run redsnow again to jailbreak, everything seems okay. i can even see my iphone in Itune and i can access my photo on the phone, while redsnow is running, after redsnow is done, iphone is in recovery mode again.

anyone can help? Cydia seems only have my SHSH 3.1.3 on file, so i can not refresh wiht 3.1.2 again.

You need to get it into DFU not recovery mode. It may take several attempts, but basically, restart the device, then when the apple boot logo comes up, hold the power and home button until it turns off, and (NOT LETTING GO OF THE HOME BUTTON) release the power button and hold the home button for ~15 seconds. I believe it needs plugged in the computer at the same time.

15 seconds is way too long. You shou,d know within 5 minutes On windows, the device might take a while to be detected by the compute in dfu mode and load the appropriate driver. However it is already in dfu mode, it's just windows that is slow

Definitely it needs to be connected to power when trying to enter dfu mode. This could be either a computer or a standalone charger. Once you manage to get the phone into dfu mode, you can disconnect it from power and reconnect it (for example to a computer) without it exiting dfu mode (as long as you have enough battery). It can help to try a wall charger to enter dfu mode if you are finding it difficult to enter this mode via your computer
