Exclamation 3GS - "firmware file is not compatible" error message

    Dear All,

    Hope you are well,

Seems I have a problem with my 3gs ( phone locked in Movistar SP, unlocked and updated using itunes) and cant solve it alone, though you guys did this process for a long and some many times and maybe you know how to solve my issue ( only if you have time and want, ofc ) .

The problem is that after restoring using the iTunes application , in iPhone Software Updates I have the iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore release and I cant use the custom firmware, always I'm receiving the notification "The Iphone "Iphone" could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible". Now the iphone is stuck with the itunes logo + cable.

I have a 3Gs SH which was initially blocked in Movistar network, the problem occurred when I tried the update from iTunes without actually know what that update does, my phone is locked. I unlocked on a local service without problem, but now I realize that i cannot restore the phone to the old firmware.

I tried all the procedures but without success, some ppl mentioned that only a Mac can fix it ...

Now it is stuck with itunes logo and cable,

Below I will attach all the things I've done :

I'm using itunes (last version. 10). When I try to use the restore option from Itunes, sometimes the app is downloading and installing firmware vertion 4.1 -> 1_4.1_8C148a_Restore and other times iPhone 4.2.1 and

It is interesting that using the same procedure for the update, the ulpload from the apple server Can be 4.1 and 4.2.1.
The process goes well, until the download / install reach the final, the next step appears the error message in itunes. -> "the Iphone " Iphone" Could not be restored because the firmware file is compatible"

I also deleted the file from the C: \ Users \% \ AppData \ Roaming \ Apple Computer \ iTunes folder to install, and tried again, then goes back with a new error - the original 1015 error, that was solved with iREB or RecBoot apps.

I want to mention that I tried on three different laptops, all wins, and neither let me install the version I want to restore.

Please let me know if you have any idea what should I use, the problem is that I cant figure out how to solve the error "firmware file is not compatible"

    Itunes: 10, last version

    bootloader version: 5.8
    basebanf : 06.15.00
    serial: 888267gsy7k
    model: mb759

Thank you in advance for your time,

One (known) problem you are encountering is related to the fact that you run 6.15 baseband.
    see for details

Another fact is that you need to be in a specific "pwned DFU mode" to restore custom IPSW

Finally, you say you are using "latest" version of iTunes - but you haven't specified the exact version. You need iTunes 10.1.x to restore iOS 4.2.1

You are a very lucky person... You don't need to be stuck with baseband 6.15 or with iOS 4.2.1

Because your baseband bootloader is version 5.8 - you can downgrade your baseband.
