Default 3G - 4.0.2 jailbroken and unlocked - NO SERVICE error. Please Help!

Hi, I've jailbroken and unlocked my iphone 3G (4.0.2) with Ultrasn0w, but I still get the NO SERVICE message on the top left. I want to use Tmobile (US).

Reinstalled Ultrasn0w through Cydia several times, toggled airplane mode on/off, reset network settings, disabled 3G, still NO SERVICE.

I'm stuck and don't know how to proceed, please help me.

    Thanks for your help!

What tool did you use to jailbreak? What version of ultrasn0w did you use? What version is your iPhone's baseband?

no, I have not. But I'm very frustrated. What about upgrading or downgrading to a different version?
    Any other options?

    thanks again

    Upgrading won't help.
    Unlikely downgrading will help either.
The US doesn't seem to care about IMEI blacklisting (which would be normally the most obvious reason for your error)

So it's probably your SIM card, or a hardware issue (often damaged SIM contacts inside phone)

Could also be incorrect hacktivation (due to wrong reds0w version) - I would only recommend redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5 through to 0.9.6 beta 3 for your iOS version.

You should not just re-run jailbreak tools like redsn0w again and again (except when using the "kickstart" tethered boot option for 4.2.1) - you should restore your iPhone to 4.0.2 before you try and run redsn0w to jailbreak again.

Be careful to specifically browse to a 4.0.2 IPSW, don't just click "restore" in iTunes.

You'll probably have issues due to apple no longer signing SHSH for 4.0.2 either. Do you have a 4.0.2 SHSH?

    Hi,

I am in the EXACT same situation. Unlocked iPhone 3g running 4.0.2 with baseband 5.13.04. Used redsn0w 0.9.6 and ultrasn0w.

BUT, Immediately after unlock I inserted an old t-mobile (germany) SIM that I knew was functional, and it worked like a charm. Fully functional. So then I went and bought another prepaid SIM to put in the phone, this time on a different network (FONIC Germany). This time I get the NO SERVICE/NETWORK LOST error that cannot be resolved.

    observations I've made:
    1. With the FONIC card in, I can see available networks but get NETWORK LOST.
    2. I can put the T-MOBILE card back in, and can see all available networks but only connect to T-MOBILE, and it works fine.
    3. Have not re-jailbroke or anything like that.

I'm no expert, but the fact that the original unlock card works and the new one does not leads me to believe it's not a hardware issue. Maybe some kind of netlock.
