Default Working Jailbroken Phone now unuseable....

    hi,

I have a Iphone 3G phone. I used QUICKPWN (Codename "Pwnmetheus") 2.1-1 to jailbreak the phone. It worked fine for 4 weeks but now have a problem.

The phone will not pick up my o2 SIM. (Stays in Emergency Call mode) I have tried restoring it, no luck.

I placed the O2 SIM into an unlocked Nokia 6300 phone and the O2 network is picked up. So, it seems its not the SIM card, but the phone itself.

I need to take the phone back to Apple.

If I upgrade the firmware to the latest version, will the Apple Genius be able to detect I had jailbroken the phone?

What do I need to do to make sure the genius is NOT able to detect it was jailbroken???

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just emergency calls sounds like not activated? Did you buy it with the O2 Sim?

Yes, I bought it with an O2 SIM and I activated it when I visit got it.

It worked fine for about 4 weeks. (firmware 2.1)

    In ITunes it says:

Itunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required.

I tried a restore and no luck.

I tried firmware 2.2 and still no luck.

The phone will not pick up my o2 SIM. (Stays in Emergency Call mode) I have tried restoring it, no luck.

As I said before....(or make other recommendations please)

I think I need to take the phone back to Apple.

If I upgrade the firmware to the latest version, will the Apple Genius be able to detect I had jailbroken the phone?

What do I need to do to make sure the genius is NOT able to detect it was jailbroken???

sorry.. I forgot to mention... I never set a PIN... and even saying that... I don't get prompted for a PIN... so where do I enter it even if I did have one?

Is there something I have to press to get the PIN request screen? I can only get the emergency calls screen... nothing else...

    Is there a default PIN?

If you really have set a pin, no idea, last time I used pin with iphone was like firmware 1.0. In this country at least, O2 does NOT issue sims which can have no PIN set.

Maybe you try the default methds for problem solving too, DFU restore and such.

If you not altered the baseband you are all fine.
