Iphone 3g 2.1
Hi, I have an iphone 3g with firmware at 2.1. I have downloaded quickpwn 2.1 and was wondering do I still have to restore the iphone to 2.1 downloading the ipsw restore file since it is already there. This is the only part of the process I am confused on. Appreciate any help for this noob. Thanks in advance.:)

No you don't, if you have 2.1 on the phone and you need it jailbroken just run quickpwn & follow the on screen instructions.
But if you want to unlock with yellowsn0w you will need 2.2 fw installed on the phone

Thanks for the quick response. When I run quickpwn, does it do a restore file in the folder you designate? I assume if it does this is the file you can use to restore the iphone back. Thanks again.

Hi
I'm not sure I understand what you mean? Quickpwn will load some files to your phone that will preform an Activation & Jailbreak for you.
If you wanted to reverse the Quickpwn process you would simply restore with a Std 2.1 firmware. :)

Maybe I am using the wrong version of quickpwn. My iphone is at 2.1 . When I run Quickpwn in step 2 it asks to browse firmware for correct ipsw. Where I am confused is that if I do not want to upgrade from 2.1 at this time not sure why it wants me to browse for an ipsw file. Always willing to learn. Greatly appreciate the assistance..:)

You need to have a copy of 2.1 firmware downloaded on the pc
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....6_Restore.ipsw
Simply put Quickpwn needs to locate a copy of 2.1 firmware on your PC, It then extracts some necessary files from that firmware, adds the jailbreak/unlock & then uploads it to your phone

Great that explains it. Really appreciate your help. Think I have researched and understand enough to go for it. Will let you know my results.. :)
