Default Has anyone had issues with the DFU mode using quickpwn?

Are the seconds right? I have a friend whoom I'm trying to help through TightVnc, and he just can't get into DFU mode with his 8 gig 3g, he keeps ending up in restore mode......... does he have to start with the phone normally on? does he have to keep holding the home button intermitently? (as in not releasing it when he pushes and releases the power button for 10 seconds?)
WHY didn't they make a button that would automatically send the iPhone into DFU mode????????????????/ WHYYYY??????? isn't there a tool that would just FREAKIN' send the 3G from a normal state (under a legit carrier) to the to DFU mode??????

i have, after the first round of install, and after reboot in DFU mode, Quickpwn, does not see the phone, iTunes does, tried everything, changed the USB port, restarted the computer, relaunced the Quickpwn, even rebooted the phone, nothing doing. I am restoring the phone as I am writing this.

I think I know what the problem is. you are not supposed to release the Home Button while pushing the power button and holding it for 10 seconds and then releasing it. So I believe that the Home Button has to be hold down intermitently throughout the process. This helped my whimpy friend..... reps up if it helped you!
