Upgrading 1.0.2 to latest firmware with corrupted installer
Hey, I'm hoping someone can make a recommendation... My first generation 8GB iPhone is running under 1.0.2 version firmware. It is an unlocked iPhone currently operating on TMobile. My friend used ANYSim to unlock the phone about a year ago.
My Installer application is corrupted, it will no longer open. I am wanting to update the phone to the latest firmware. If I go into iTunes, click on restore, do the latest Apple upgrade to version 2.1 firmware, then open QuickPWN and do the installation with the 2.1 firmware and BL-39 and BL-46 files, will I encounter any problems? I wasn't sure if I could upgrade my phone in iTunes to 2.1 since I have already unlocked/jailbroken my phone. Do I need to virginize it first, or just go ahead with the plan I've outlined above? If you think I need to virginize, then how do I do this since I can no longer open my Installer application and download the virginize program?
Thanks so much for any feedback -- I really appreciate it!!

1.0.2 to 2.1
I had similar problems. I was using 1.0.2 and wanted to 2.0 when it first came out. There are so many instructions; some would say you have to Virginize some says no. I didnt know who is right. Someone on this bullentin did write to me and helped me to upgrade. you will be fine.
Since my installer was no longer working to virginize it. I went ahead and use one of those pwnage tools and did it. No Virginize.
It has been awhile, but I used Iclarify instruction with Winpwn tool. Just make sure you allocate more than 500 (i.e. 550) and go into DFU mode. Most people had problem because they were not in the DFU mode.
Good Luck
